Watching some of the player interviews this morning... It's hard not to love a lot of the players on this team. Kenny Clark, man's man professional. Quinnen, low key, humble, and gracious. (And sounds like Charles Barkley... Once you hear it you can't unhear it.) Overshown, first ballot Attitude Hall of Fame. Even Malik Davis, who used to be a knucklehead but now is apparently just the opposite.

Lot of likable, professional type guys. And I haven't always been able to say that.

Would anybody trade Williams/Clark and what amounts to a 2027 1 back for Parsons?

I definitely wouldn't.

You can get into all the theoretical scenarios of keeping Parsons and maneuvering to add DT's (maybe even Williams) in different ways, but then I don't think you'd be able to keep Pickens long-term.

Nick Saban was raving about Williams as a player. Said he wasn't a superstar recruit, but they liked him and he was humble and a super hard worker that made himself into the player he is.

No, Williams is awesome. I have to admit I was a little afraid he'd get here and somehow be underwhelming, like seems to happen sometimes. But it's the opposite.

I know some people think attitude and the type of person you are is totally irrelevant, but I don't. I think it's huge. Of course you have to be able to play, but if it were me, I wouldn't bother with the knotheads until and unless you have a super solid core. Then you could stand one or two. (Like a Pickens.)

Really, I didn't know that. I remember when he was a beast at Alabama but didn't know he wasn't a huge recruit. Almost hard to believe with his size and ability. Maybe he went to a really small school?

Random Thoughts:

-It was nice not dealing with a bunch of bonehead penalties from the LT spot, Thomas got beat his fair share of times but not having to deal with stupid ass penalties every game has lots of value. OT is still the weak spot on the offense but the coaches are doing a nice job scheming around it.
-Dak also deserves lots of credit for helping to neutralize pressure with his pocket presence, if we had this defense from week 1 he'd be right there for MVP.
-Said it last week but Davis needs a few more touches, he looks like he has fresh legs. Obviously he's nothing special but he's workable enough to give Williams a little bit more of a breather.
-Williams is also ridiculous in pass pro, you could argue he had as much a hand in the game winning play against the Eagles as anybody on the Pickens slant, and then he had a few nice pick up's yesterday on plays that ended up being big gainers. His rushing stats are starting to level out a bit so I'm hoping that keeps his price tag reasonable.
-Pleased overall with the defense, 2 coverage sacks against Mahomes without a starting CB? Both the 4th down TD's were tight coverage throws that most teams don't convert. Adding Williams and Overshown is one thing, but it's obvious that the coverage on the back end has tightened up significantly and the coaches have gotten the DB's playing the way they want them to. Absolutely no chance Eberflus is gone barring a significant regression back to how they were playing before the bye.
-Logan Wilson continues to be in basically a time share with Murray, so probably not a great sign for him coming back next year unless he takes a discounted deal.
-Clowney needs to be back next year, he's our best edge rusher (Ezeiruaku will overtake him at some point this year or next) and is still stout against the run, which is important considering Ezeiruaku's size. Sign me up for another deal around $3-4/year.
-Overshown isn't making many splash plays but I can't overstate how important it is having a competent, non-retard LB in the middle of the field who can be in the right place, taker proper angles and tackle reliably (Mahomes scramble aside). Bring me Sonny Styles or CJ Allen and we're going to have two horses in the middle.

That was clear as fucking day watching it live, just like the one on Osa that they were slow to call earlier in the game.

No harm no foul in the end, and some of the PI flags were a bit ticky tack in our favor, but you can't say the refs tipped the scales with no calls like that.
Yeah, I saw that live and about lost my mind. And on the TD to pull within 3 just made it exponentially worse.

If Ez hadn't been held, he was about to destroy Mahomes' blindside. Possibly a game sealing strip sack.

Amen. You don't even have to be Mike Singletary. Just have some quickness, instincts, read things properly, and get the guy on the ground and it's a massive upgrade from what we've had.

clowney has impressed me with his tackling skill in the run game. Big rangy dude with long arms and when he grabs you, that’s it. Tremendous strength.

That's what happens when you get some properly-sized DE's, we're so used to watching these relative midgets like Parsons, Fowler, Ezeiruaku and such that guys like him and Lawrence stand out.

Definitely important to keep him next year assuming his price is roughly what it was this year.

Yeah I thought they actually played pretty well. They gave up the initial 14 but then shut the Chiefs down for a pretty long period of time. Mahomes was playing like the season was on the line and made some passes that only Mahomes makes.
One of the things I'm most enjoying about this defense since we got Williams is how they play better as the game goes on.

The run defense has been really good in the second half of the last 2 games and you can really see how the line just wears the offensive line down.

Almost every time Mahomes went back to pass in that second half, he had to buy time with his legs.

And the only score they gave up in the second half came when they got pressure on Mahomes and forced him to pull some shit out of his ass which he did on that deep completion, and that was more of a HOF player making a HOF play than it was the defense messing up.

If Diggs is serious about playing, the guy can make us even better. Say what you want about him, but the guy is talented player and a good CB. I think this needs to be his last year in Dallas, but for the remainder of this season, if he is serious about playing and commits himself, he can make this defense even better.

It's he's mentally checked out or continues to be a little bitch, then he'll be of no use to us. But I'm hoping the defense getting better coupled with the team's winning streak has motivated him to want to contribute.

I thought about that too.

Lawrence would look really good with this line right now and our run defense would be even better.

I don't think it was a mistake to let him walk, but I do think with this current unit, he totally would have helped and made it better.

Honestly Diggs is a progress stopper at this point. We all know the Revel situation but Carson is looking like a guy who can be a starter for us moving forward and this is only his second year, who are we sitting between those two and Bland to play Diggs?

If someone gets hurt he can play instead of Trikweze.

I think we all thought that about Gilmore coming back. I know the moves that they have made this year (other than the timing) have been very good and have been what we have been asking for for years. I still cant trust them to not go back to the way they have done things.
