You know he is going to trade for an older guy on the last year of his contract. An older guy whose name was big 8 years ago. Since they dont spend in FA even he will walk after the year.

And I'll say this, we better pray Revel can play, because the way Jerry is pimping him and with the profile he has (high upside, a "steal" because he was injured, etc.) Jerry will hold onto him like a dog with a bone. One of those players who even if he sucks, Jerry will insist he stays out there because he's a pet project.

Fortunately, I think Revel will be good, but you never know. And Jerry won't admit it if he isn't.

I'd be fine trading for a defensive player worth a 1 and who is under contract for a few more years.

It's not about this year necessarily but if we can add a Will McDonald that's a big boost to our defense either way.

I've heard of trades where the team trading the player takes on some or most of the salary to make the player more "cap friendly". 90% though? I don't think I've ever heard of that.

I found this. Looks like his base salary and workout bonus together add up to $2 million for 2025. But I don't see where they've paid $22 million of his contract.

May have been guaranteed money already paid to him. You see those "prorated" cap charges all the time. Often it's just money the guy has already received.
