Yeah, Eze was one of the positives of last night. He took a step forward for sure. (That personal foul penalty was one of the worst I've seen, too. That was not a Sam Williams bonehead play.)

In fact, one of the best things was how many young players played well. Bass and Hoffman didn't hurt anything. Nate Thomas has to play somewhere, and I'm not sure it isn't LT. Even Booze's favorite other Thomas didn't seem to hurt anything when Hooker went out.

If only we had some linebackers. I see now why Nolanflus was pushing for James -- he saw how awful this LB corps was.

I look at it this way... there are what, 160+ games in baseball, over 80 games in basketball, and they don't allow tie games. If there were, they would have a lot less effect in the standings over the course of the season.

There's only 17 fucking games in an NFL season and the league is ok with one or more of a teams' games ending in a tie?

Like my grandmother used to say - "That's some bullshit".
I wouldn't even mind if they just went back to sudden death, first score wins. To me there's nothing wrong with that. If you don't like the "unfairness" of it, make a bigger effort to win in regulation and not go to OT at all.

I know they'd never do that, because they're too worried about the media and the Twitterati bitching about it. But at some point you have to just live with it, because you're never going to please everyone.

Yeah, there's just no logic to allowing a tie in an NFL game.

I'd figure out whichever spot Thomas is most comfortable and play him there, then figure out the rest between Guyton/Steele.

The one pass pro rep that they highlighted against Parsons was better than just about anything I've seen from Guyton, and I've made a point to watch him closely since last season.

No criticism this morning for Packers being so lackadaisical in OT.

Had they sped up their tempo from the drives first play, they would’ve had more shots to win the game. Like they just wanted the tie. Weird.

Maybe they were worried about Aubrey kicking an 75 yarder? I dont think that was it, though.

I think that's exactly it. They wanted to give us no chance once they got into field goal range.

They were either going to win or tie (outside of a turnover or missed FG).

Classic playing not to lose.

My issue has been moreso with the coin toss. Change it from luck to something game-based and I’m good with first score wins or previous TD first drive wins. Something like first team to reach the score gets the ball.

Amen. That is exactly the way I'd handle it. And I'm pretty sure that's LT, but whichever is fine.

Agree again. Said it live, but at least with Nate, you aren't going through him like you can with Guyton (and Steele). Even Micah, as freaky powerful as he is for his size -- or any size, really -- looked like he hit a brick wall when he went right at Nate.

And I'm no Guyton hater. I loved the pick when it was made and I think he's a good kid. But I have to admit I don't love what I see with him, especially mentally.... though somewhat ironically, I thought he was having one of his better games last night before he went out.

Remember why they changed the overtime rules in the first place from sudden death... Fucking Brett Favruh

Watching the replay, the ball was on the ground with one sec left.

That was some horrific clock management, though. If we sack them or he waits half a second longer to throw it, they lose. Imagine the shitshow in GB if that happened.
A tie or loss was almost inevitable after giving up 4th and 6. If Pickens had the presence of mind not to score, that was another missed opportunity.

Or just play defense and stop them.

I always hated the changes to overtime. There's nothing unfair about asking a team to play a little defense if they want to win a game.
Amen again. Defense is still half of the game, as much as the NFL wants it to be all offense. If you don't want them to score first, stop them.

Me too.

I never had a problem with the OT rules as they were and I hated how people just wanted to excuse teams from playing defense.

Some of the biggest OT wins I've witnessed as a Cowboys fan occured when the Cowboys had to get a stop in OT before scoring themselves.

I'm ok with both teams getting the ball now, but I don't think a tie should be a possible outcome.

Play till someone wins.

If you don't like the idea of teams playing 100 minute game? Then go back to sudden death.

Like @Chocolate Lab said, you can't please everybody so the best decision is always to just stick firmly to a formula instead of making countless tweaks to it to try and appease everyone.

I wouldn't be thrilled about it but this years LB crop seems to be one of the strongest in years, and right at a time when it's arguably our biggest need, depending on how Overshown looks.

CJ Allen, Sonny Styles, Anthony Hill Jr. and Arvell Reese might all go in the first.

It's also a really strong edge class, which is probably our other biggest need.

With a late first I'd be open to it. Or the second round which seems like a great place to get a stud LBer. I'm not taking one top 20 but there are options.
