I just don't think it's smart or even fair to expect a rookie with literally no NFL offseason or camp to come in mid season and expect him to hit the ground running in the middle of one of the worst defenses any of us can remember.

I'd much much rather sign Gilmore and just redshirt Revel.
I'd sign Gilmore also, but I don't think it's unreasonable to ease Revel in for 15-20 snaps a game as the 4th guy behind Diggs, Bland and Steward, who I think is surprisingly decent considering they basically got him off the street.

The problem comes if one of them goes down and you have to either play Elam or Revel for long stretches.

If he's worse than Elam after maybe 2-3 games to acclimate, who I believe is one of the worst CBs in the league right now, we have bigger problems.
Yes. It's not that Revel is going to be Deion, it's that any cb who can fog a mirror would be better.

If not him, we need Josh Butler or anyone else out there in Elam's place.

I'm just hoping the guy is actually running. Its been over a year since he tore his ACL.

I posted this in the other thread, but when should enough be enough with Eberflus?

The issue is that Whitecotton is pretty much the only defensive coach who isn't an Eberflus flunky, so I'm not sure how much value there is in getting rid of him just to promote Borgonzi or one of the DB coach chucklefucks who can't get these guys to play a proper cover-3.

You could talk me in to firing him and promoting Whitecotton though, just in a "it can't be any worse" way.

I woke up this morning and I still hate that tie.

If you're going to change the OT rules so that both teams get a possession no matter what, then why on earth would you shorten the OT period by 5 minutes?!

It's so fucking stupid. Just like with these stupid new kickoff rules, the NFL makes decisions sometimes that can make you easily forget that this is a multi billion dollar organization.

I wonder if Borgonzi could do it, assuming he wouldn't run the exact same things.

But realistically, he was hired because Big and Little Enos are comfortable with him, so I don't think this is a Nolan situation where they'd even allow him to be fired.

They can't have OT run too long... Have to stay in their beloved broadcast "window" for noon Sundays so they don't run into the next game.

But yeah, this is getting ridiculous. Like Nascar when they change too many rules every year. Get it right and leave it alone. Just accept that nothing is perfect and no matter what you do, some will complain. Just nut up and live with it.

I'd send him packing today.

He's not a good coach, at all. There's no reason to keep him around and expect him to improve things with that unit.

Just let him go already.

Borgonzi is his top lieutenant and the LB play has been pure shit, so if the choice is ax Eberflus/promote Borgonzi, or just keep going as is, I'm going as is.

random quick thoughts about the game last night...

Donovan Ezeiruaku had some nice plays last night, also he got washed out of some plays. Not sure if he will be able to ever have the strength to be more than a pass rusher but he can certainly be valuable. Great athleticism. He will have a role.

I've been kind of whatever on Javonte Williams, but he seemingly looks better each week. He's almost always going forward when hit. I think him paired with a speed back is a really good combo. Whenever we get some speed at rb. Blue hopefully.

Reddy Steward looks like a player to me.

We had a lot of good run stops again last night. If we could get the burning heap of trash fire sorted on the back end, we wouldn't be terrible on defense. That's easier said than done.

Offensive line had some really good run block schemes last night. On multiple levels.

I think that was dak's best game ever.

1 second? wtf

No criticism this morning for Packers being so lackadaisical in OT.

Had they sped up their tempo from the drives first play, they would’ve had more shots to win the game. Like they just wanted the tie. Weird.

Maybe they were worried about Aubrey kicking an 75 yarder? I dont think that was it, though.

Long-term I think Ezeiruaku will play the role that Parsons should've been in all along, a "designated pass rusher" who basically just plays 50-60% of the snaps in obvious passing situations. I'm still very bullish on him, he just needs to figure out how to work his pass rush moves against this level of competition.

I love that he hits hard and plays with a nastiness too.

Those guys always make for the best pass rushers.

I look at it this way... there are what, 160+ games in baseball, over 80 games in basketball, and they don't allow tie games. If there were, they would have a lot less effect in the standings over the course of the season.

There's only 17 fucking games in an NFL season and the league is ok with one or more of a teams' games ending in a tie?

Like my grandmother used to say - "That's some bullshit".
