There's a little buzz on the twitters and places about getting Nate Thomas on the field, either at RT or LT.

I'm totally for it. Went back and watched more of his camp vids and what little we could see and I'm still very impressed with him. Does he have the quickest feet of all time, no, but at least unlike our other two Ts, nobody is going through him. That at least takes one way of getting beat out of the equation.

I think there's an argument that we should start him over Steele.

I'm just not sure what his comfort level is at RT, he played mostly LT in college and seemingly played there for the most part in training camp. If he's just as comfortable at RT as LT there's definitely an argument.

If I totally trusted Guyton, I'd do it this week. But I don't trust him yet. It's not even physical, but mental. He seemed to be holding on by a thread... just looks to me like when he gets beat once or twice his confidence vanishes and he starts playing desperate.

Maybe I'm overstating it and he'll be fine, but I think head problems are very hard to fix.

But at the very least, I start working Thomas in somewhere. Even if it's just packages where you line him up off the T and let him run block some.

I'd stick with guyton for now. We should really want that dude to develop and he hasn't been a complete disaster so far, especially given that he missed a lot of camp time. I think he needs to keep getting reps.

Steele on the other hand, I've written off long ago.

Guyton can and will get better. Steele is the best he will likely ever be again. Steele just gets pushed backwards too easily. In an ideal world Thomas can play RT. He is physically built for it.

I think Guyton is better than, or at least equal to Steele right now. There's no world where benching Guyton makes sense.

You might be able to talk me into moving him to RT with Thomas playing LT, but it'd probably be best to just leave Guyton where he is and roll the dice with Thomas at RT.

Yep, Thomas in for Steele in the next few weeks. Guyton is fine and will get better. Surprised he's playing this soon actually after the injury during training camp.

And there is 0% Steele is on the team next year. Post June 1 cut for sure.

Brian Burns is a hell of a pass rusher. Always has been. So struggling with him a little is understandable. The pass protection wasn't bad against the Giants, it just wasn't great either.

The Giants have top 3-5 pass rush talent in the league too, so there's that.

Yeah no excuses. But frankly our offense wasn't the problem. They scored and they scored a lot. And when we needed them to score late to take the lead they did exactly that. I only talk about Nate Thomas at RT because I think he could make us better on the O-line.

Now the defense, that's where shit is bad. If we want to talk about benching and getting guys on the field. I actually think Thomas and Bell are really good players. I've wanted to hate on Thomas since the day he got here but he has proven me wrong every time. Bell is the slimmer and faster of the two guys. But honestly you just can't put Wilson in as a single high safety or a cover two safety. Which means let one of these young guys do it instead. You're dead in the water if you keep letting Wilson do any sort of deep coverage.

Do you have the luxury to wait 2 more weeks? If you don't beat the Bears you'll be looking at 1-3 hoping Bland and a rookie with no camp can somehow fix things.

I just don't think we have the ability to sit on pur hands and wait. We just better beat the Bears.
One of the two chucklefucks running the team said Bland might play this week either earlier today or yesterday, so maybe they're banking on that.
