I couldn't disagree more. This strongly divided two party system will never change if the same old ass people are elected in year after year in the same spots who lead everything. If you want the Nancy Pelosi of the world be my guest but I'd rather not.
Yep. These people get a stranglehold on their voters in the district and so damn hard to get them out.

I get skepticism that a term limit won't have a significant impact but I really can't see any benefit or positives to not having term limits. Its the guys who have been in there forever with serious mental decline that are leading everyone. How can that be a good thing for anything to ever change?

You really think they just wouldn't recycle the next Nancy pelosi every few years? You really think lobbyists wouldn't just pay whoever is next in line?

Literally nothing would change.

We have no idea if it would change or not. But wouldn't you at least like to try? Because just staying status quo sure as hell isn't working.

New person opens up new possibilities. At least it opens the auction for a new buyer.

And nothing changes, and it gives even more power to the DNC and RNC.
How does it give the DNC and RNC more power?

If you can't run for another term, you're not really going to be giving a shit about the DNC or RNC at that point. On the other hand, if you're Pelosi and want to stay in your position for 35 years. Basically leading the entire party for 20+ years. Yeah, you'll listen to the DNC or have basically become the DNC at that point. See when your career for your rest of your life is in the balance, you'll do as you're told. On the other hand, if you know this is just a 6 year period of your life or whatever, you've got the freedom to actually try to make positive change.

I'd also be in favor of whatever keeps the 85 year old Pelosi's and 83 year old Mitch McConnell with mental decline from sitting in those seats.

Says something about the intelligence of voters as well that these shitbags hang around so long.

Even dyed in the wool racists like Robert Byrd and Strom Thurmond stayed in power until they couldn't even wipe their own fuckin asses.

It's sad but true. Once someone get's in it's like a primary doesn't even exist.

Because the DNC and RNC become the center of power instead of Congress. Do you think the corrupt pelosi types would just quit politics if there's term limits? Of course not. They'd get cushy jobs at party HQ and pull strings from there.

Sure but you put someone else making the decision in-between and you offer the opportunity for the Pelosi types to not get their way. If you don't, then they always get their way because they just sit in the actual spot for a persons lifetime.

That's already not the way it works because the parties hold a lot of campaign financing. Check out what Gabbard has said on these issues with the DNC. The DNC exerts an enormous amount of control already over newer congressmen and it would only get worse with term limits.

Ask yourselves this.

Did term limits keep corruption out of the White House or nah?

There's your answer for Congress.

If you think the Biden administration was one of the most corrupt in history but think term limits would somehow help the corruption in Congress, your thoughts are incongruent.
