Not defending him. He has his warts, I freely admit. But he’s not nearly the trash QB that people love to claim, either. Always looking for some little angle to shit on him, thinking it proves their retarded take.

As for Romo, my opinion hasn’t changed a bit. He was a good QB you could win with. He made mistakes. Sometimes at awful times. So has every other QB, but his were magnified by his own fans, and people that love to hate the Cowboys. And he also made spectacular plays that most QBs could not. He was very underrated. Mostly by Cowboys fans.

Romo and Dak are similar caliber QB's, very good but not truly elite, who will likely have very similar careers when it's all said and done.

Dak has been more durable and will end up with better stats due to a larger sample, but I think the bottom line will end up being that they were never able to take flawed teams deep into the playoffs like the true MVP caliber QB's have.

The one potential silver lining is that we again seem to be building a top tier OL towards the end of one aging QB's tenure, which should smooth the transition to the next one.

I don't think we need to have this debate again because it accomplishes nothing. But Romo was a bit better than Dak. Romo made spares like Laurent Robinson and miles Austin into real players. Romo made offenses work at a high level with Julius Jones/ Felix Jones and Marion Barber as his main running backs some years.

I think @Simpleton general description of Romo and Dak is spot on, but I do think Romo was clearly the better QB.

He wasn't someone I'd say was elite, but he was very very good. And there are two specific traits he possessed that that I think he was significantly better at than Dak is -- accuracy and pocket presence.

Both of those things make a world of difference.

I think he's also excellent off play-action, more so than most QB's, and that's most effective with a running game.

And if you go back and look at Hurts last season the guy was pretty putrid in the passing game. 18 passing TD's in the regular season and less than 200 yards passing per game in the playoffs, put him in Dallas and this guy would've been ran out of town on a rail before you knew it.
What you just described is the benefit of having a competently run organization.

The Eagles know his limitations and have gone out of their way to surround him with talented players who can help carry the load.

Whereas in Dallas, QBs with high salaries are required to do more with less.

Said it before, but if Jerry owned the Eagles, Wentz would still be their QB. Why, because if he played great once, he can do it again. And yes, huge contracts just mean the player should do it even more often.

Like I said man. Just your username is NoDak(I know it is because of where you live not because of Dak)Not trying to call you out on it or anything. People react to Dak similar to Romo. There is no middle ground. Romo could have been a great QB in the right system. Instead Garrett got away with calling a basic system and knowing Romo would improvise. I was curious. Thanks

Well, Dak's failed to come close to playing a complete season in 3 of the past 5 years.

Romo's durability issues really only came at the end.

Sort of like Dak is looking right now.

I don't think you could say Dak has been particularly more durable at this point.
The lines Romo played behind for the first four years were pretty questionable. He had the rib and finger injury in 08, the clavicle in 10, and the chest and hand injury in 11. Before they really took the OL serious.

But he played 13 / 16 games in 08, and 16 in 2011. 2010 was the outlier and was his only season missing actual significant time until his final 2 years.

My overall point is that Dak's injury history isn't far off at this point. I wouldn't use it to distinguish their careers at all.

Agreed. Those were just the “missed time” injuries. He seemed to be running around trying to make something happen far too often and he played hurt a lot in those years.

Pollard was doing extremely well against that defense. They had Lamb and Cooper but Cooper wasn’t very effective that game.
Cooper didn't play for us in that game. We kept Gallup that season instead. It was fucking Noah Brown and Dalton Shutlz as the top options after Lamb. Well that and Zeke's deadly 2.6 YPC.

Cooper was a Brown at that point and we luckily had that fifth round pick Waletzko. Fuck we probably go to the NFC title game that year if we didn't go cheapass on Cooper.

Gah. Stupid internet let me down. We have been playing the Niners a lot in preseason lately. You are correct. That was the Lamb, Gallup, T.Y. “anybody can replace Amari” Hilton year.
