I don't consider being flushed out of the pocket a "clean" pocket.
Not every damn body can get the Great Wall like Aikman had, but the Joneses will sure die trying.

We saw the same thing with Romo. That did not stop him from fucking up.

Some of these passes are yikes and some are double yikes and there are few he nailed it throws. And the pocket was clean. We just spent our first round pick on a guard and also gave up the choice for Pickens (who may help with the inaccurate throws).

I have high hopes for Adams, I hope he has a design in plan that does not ask Prescott to do a lot of extended downfield throws.
Did not like what I just saw. Dak's clearly out of rhythm and as we've seen in his career that means a lot.

I believe it stems from being unable to run and not having a clear attack plan short, medium, and long.

Quite often he has to hit a precise window and almost never does he clear it far enough downfield to let his guy adjust to it. This likely stems from rushed footwork which traces back to rhythm.

Love to see quick pass, draw, quick pass, play action, run, run, deep shot set up from prior routes. Rhythm comes from attacking with a plan and building off multiple successes. Last year was too much "Dak, carry us" when the guy was healthy.

Schottenheimer supposedly wants to go heavy play action, so let's hope.

The play design after the play action better not be deep. That is all I have to say about that.
And yet in 2023 they ranked Dak as the fifth best deep ball passer in the NFL... Dak is by far at his best when he is taking those throws.

5. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
0.810 EPA, 48.5% Positive EPA Rate

Prescott got the ball out quickly on deep passes, averaging 2.95 seconds per throw, and kept it out of harm’s way en route to a 3.7% turnover-worthy play rate (fifth best). He finished in the top five in passing yards (1,085), touchdowns (11), first downs (36) and big-time throws (27) on deep passes — all career-high marks — and produced a 126.3 passer rating.

So being a top ten defense doesn’t count then?
I wonder how much six division games against bad teams factored into that.

Cherry picking. Every team, every year plays poor teams.

I have little doubt that the '85 Bears played some patsies to help boost their defensive stats, too.
But they played some patsies in addition to the teams in their obviously craptastic division.

I'm not going to go examine their schedule, but maybe that made a difference.
