So…are people excited, disgusted or DGAF?

I have left DGAF territory and I am headed towards excited.

We have a real life WR2 that could function as a WR1 depending on the competition. If the OL does what it is supposed to and especially if Prescott remains healthy, we should go at the ten wins or so where minus Pickens we were in the seven win range.
I'm going with cautious optimism, on paper we could be one of the most explosive offenses in the league if Blue can hold onto the ball.

Of course it could also blow up if Pickens loses his shit and X-factors like Blue don't do shit, but I'm definitely intrigued to see how it works out.

If Pickens shows out, it is probably just evidence of another issue, not him. He would be retarded to act a fool in what will be a showcase season for him.

Anything short of a Superbowl, if he leaves next off-season will suck. That comp pick won't mean anything until the 2027 draft.
If he goes off I think there's a decent chance they resign him, especially if Steele is shitty again and they feel like they can move off that big deal.

I think they move off Diggs big deal after this season assuming Revel is what we think he is. But regardless, I'm more excited for this season than I was for last season by far. I know I'm likely to be let down but this team looks to have a lot of talented young players going into next year. There are still question marks and injuries can always derail anything. But this is the best I have felt about the offensive weapons in a long while. The Oline is young and powerful again. The defense is stacked with pass rushing talent again. The corners look as good as they have in a long time (minus the injury questions).

Pickens fixes the one massive problem we had on offense. We were a defense taking away Lamb from being totally inept. Pickens fixes that in a big way.

Sure the run defense could still sink us. But the LBers feel solid with the potential for Overshown to come back late in the season and add a budding star to the group.

Yea I mean we were the 2 seed just two seasons ago, it's hard to remember because of how it ended but the way people talk about this team you'd think they were barely better than the Giants.

They literally didn't even try last offseason, so the way last year went was no surprise given the injuries on top of it all, but now that this weird ass organization seems to be putting in an honest effort to build a competitive roster there's no reason they can't win at least 10.

Yeah I doubt they laughed.

From a dude who claims Jaxon Dart is going to be special.
Yeah, the idea that there is this cadre of successful GMs snickering at this is understandable. Most of them are not in the position to roll the dice.

I don't know. There are a lot of variables that need to play out before I decide it's going to suck. They might be able to trade down and recoup a third or something. They might be in a position where they take a WR in the first. They might even resign Pickens. We'll see.

Yeah, last offseason was pretty awful in every way imaginable. But in hindsight it feels now like they used it for a mini rebuild and took a much more aggressive approach this offseason.

A lot of us speculated that they were consciously taking a step back to reset things a bit, which is still insane, but at least they're back to trying to win in their own weird way.

Things change in a big hurry. The eagles looked like they were going down the drain two seasons ago and then one offseason later they did something or other.

Two seasons ago is fairly irrelevant.

That said, I think we should be pretty decent, maybe even classically decent this year. I think the defense is a big question mark and I'm still a little uneasy about the RBs, but I don't think we'll suck barring injury.

I don't think they consciously took a step back or were doing a mini rebuild last year. I think it gives them far too much credit to think this was part of some coherent plan.

I think they way overestimated their talent last year coming off of a pretty good regular season. They thought some of their depth players were better than they were and would step up. Tolbert, Dowdle, Mazi, etc. Even Cooks.

This year is simply a knee jerk reaction to having overestimated last year. Once they realized they weren't as good as they thought, they were more aggressive.

They could have done these types of moves last year if they wanted to. It's not like they were hamstrung by the cap last year, they just pretended they were

I'm sure there are some GMs that would say, we would never trade for that hot mess. But I also think those GMs would acknowledge that the guy is really talented. It's the same way NFL teams will take a player off their board in a draft. Those teams just know the charecter risk wouldn't be able to fit in on their team.

And I can also acknowledge that Pickens would be an awful fit for some teams. Like you send him to a shitty team like the Browns and it would be a total disaster. I think Pickens only works on a team that has the talent to win a lot of games and that has a good veteran leader at QB. He wouldn't fit in with a QB that is a flake or just sucks. He wouldn't fit in with a Bill Parcells type head coach either.

But in the right situation he could really flourish. But you couldn't tell me a team like the Chiefs couldn't have benefited massively from a talent like Pickens. Or the Buffalo Bills.

Prescott has a big role in this too. Loose cannon diva WRs seem quieter with solid QBs.

Yeah I would say I’m in the excited-ish range. Excited given that ultimately I know you could give this QB prime Randy Moss and Jerry Rice and we still wouldn’t make a championship game, and same goes for ownership, but, man, there was nothing in terms of offensive talent on this roster last year besides CD Lamb and it was just fucking hard to watch. It was one of the hardest seasons in my memory to even want to turn the TV on on Sunday. Even the Quincy Carter years, it was like, “We have a new young QB, let’s watch him develop.” That was exciting. And Galloway was here. There was juice.

Last year was just awful. Unwatchable.

I don’t want to get carried away because we have seen this QB struggle with a 1500 yard back, Cooper, Lamb and Gallup.

But Pickens being here gives the offense a chance. A chance to be playoff caliber. To put out watchable, interesting football.

They still aren’t deep enough at WR, and they aren’t deep enough or talented enough at RB, and Ferguson is overrated, but, they can get by perhaps.
