Because the RT fell on his ass.

How inspiring.
The RT was tripped by the RG, I saw that play last night when going through the all-22 with him.

I didn't see a lot to be hopeful about, he seems to be a pure reclamation project for Whitecotton. He has the physical tools to be a good rotational player but it's going to take a significant amount of development.

I wonder if they think he can be a Fowler type, just a designated pass rusher that you basically don't even expect to play against the run.

I didn't like him in the draft and everything so far tells me I was spot on. It's your classic big and athletic DE that gets over drafted because of potential.

Hell Solomon Thomas is sort of the same thing but he became a good backup. Interestingly our defensive line coach basically converted him to mostly a 295 piund three technique and he is playing the best of his career. Maybe he can work a little magic with Turner as well at DE. But it's just a random shot in the dark. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make the roster either.

I don't think he is a good pass rusher. He is probably closer to a 3-4 DE than a pass rusher.

Also the guy has been hurt a lot. I think in college too. His best season was like 5 sacks in 5 games in a covid shortened season. But he had injuries that year too. His first 3 NFL seasons were injury ridled. Last year was sort of his first full season in the NFL and recorded 2 sacks.

Again, I think the hope is maybe the new Dline coach can help raise him to the level of Golston at DE.

It'd be truly amazing if he could give us 4-5 sacks a year like Fowler did.
Fowler just put up double digit sacks for the Redskins. Yeah we aren't even talking the same ball park. Fowler is explosive, he is just useless at anything beyond rushing the passer. He will run himself out of plays because there is nothing physical to his game.

I didn't mean that he'd be as good as Fowler, but that the role could be similar -- a guy you don't even expect to be a run down player.

Just going on what Simp said about him, plus his scouting report said he was pretty twitchy but plays with bad footwork and a bad base.

We really need to move on a corner. Even if you don't want the guy starting. We need bodies.
I don’t think you fully appreciate how we do things around here. We can’t telegraph our draft picks if we actually do anything in free agency.

Even if you take a corner at 12, who is your nickel? You handing the job to Carson? I don't think Diggs is going to be ready unless someone else knows something I don't.

I guess I need to start looking at corners but Will Johnson with the nagging injuries scares me. Now he might not run a forty because of a hamstring? He scares me because of the constant injury bug.

Stephen reminds me of a spoiled ass brat child who was handed everything in life. He never had to work for a dime ever. He never had to take a risk to get a big reward. He basically has been comfortable and taken care of by others his whole life. Of course he doesn't take chances. When you already have everything you want, you don't want to take risks. Plus I think it's also made him very lazy. I think he is beyond stupid when it comes to knowledge of players.
Yeah, the more I observe the team's behavior the more I think it's Stephen being a lazy neophyte as to why the Cowboys are such dog shit in free agency.
