"We will commence a search process immediately"

Yeah, they were blindsided by this. Never expected a coach to turn them down. Thought they could get anyone to accept their lowball craptastic offers.

I've said this repeatedly. This is the most insular, incestuous team in the league.

Nobody wants to coach in Dallas after this.

The front office basically told MM his 12 win seasons weren’t good enough and sent him out in 2024 with Zeke Elliot and Rico Dowdle to prove himself.

It looks very bad, aesthetically. I doubt they gave that much thought. Probably never occurred to them.

Yep, it's why as soon as Belichick went to UNC I started speculating that it'd be Moore, simply because of the familiarity factor.

It's truly a joke, and honestly Moore might be one of the only candidates that other teams are actually considering, once you start hearing names like Kiffin, Rivera and such.

Listened to Jane Slater on the Fan from earlier. Few things:

1. Yes, from conversations Mike wanted to go. Did want to come back, but got to feeling "a certain way" when Jerry dragged on, didn't let him interview with Chicago, and the recent conversations were more about how the season ended and not his future here. Got tired of being "comfortable with ambiguity."

2. The offense we have here is still a lot of what Jason Garrett ran. Mike never really got to put in his entire system. (Which IMO goes back to Dak.)

3. She was told from the Chicago side that their interest was real, not some favor to him. New Orleans doesn't turn over their FO often and he still knows people there, too.

4. At the combine, she had Mike Vrabel and Kliff Kingsbury ask her to please introduce them to Jerry Jones. She joked with them that they were fanboys. Just shows that people do want this job, even though they know Jerry is different from anyone else.

5. Perception around the league that Cowboys are cheap? It's not perception, it's real, and yes, people around the league know it.

Turns out he does have some pride.

Jerry sees Harbaugh get smoked in Houston and says to himself, "Why pay for that?"

Because they were 5-12 last year. I'd feel pretty comfortable saying that team will continue to improve with him there.

McCarthy wasn't "it" anyways

Dallas went 12-5 largely on the "strength" of a weak NFC East.

That's no longer the case, with Philly strong and Washington clearly turning a corner. New York is still a pathetic mess, but they will fix their QB situation next year.

Dallas needs someone hungry and aggressively looking for every advantage to beat the NFL's best teams.

McCarthy had the "hungry" look down, insofar as he ate a lot.
