One of the other issues in the article is Romo's weight. He's 6'2 and reported in at 236. That's fat for a pro athlete.
He got married. Settled down. Had a kid. Happens to all of us.

Do you really believe aikman? When you're getting concussions per sack, why would the back be the reason for retirement?
I believe him. In pre game warm-up he couldn't do any of the exercise in his final two years. The stretch repetitions made him look like a human stick.

Funny you mention it, i was talking to a buddy of mine a few days ago about how out of shape romo looked this year. He really does need to get in better shape, he's just not nimble in the pocket anymore.
I don't know about not being nimble anymore, it took skill to get in the fetal position as fast as he did.

I am talking about Aikmen' s age. His first surgery was at age 26 but he had several procedures after that until he retired. Romo has just started the process but will possibly follow Aikmen' s path and play for quite a while with additional procedures.
Romo's advanced football age might poke holes in this theory.

I assume his lack of nimbleness and compiling injuries might be why he's heavy, he may also be one of those guys who didn't have to watch his diet when he was younger, and hasn't adapted to 30+ year old metabolism.

Stress might be a factor too, since he became the Cowboys " Peyton Manning" it sounds like he's been putting a lot more time in film and Playbooks. Even remember a blurb about him missing a lot of sleep. That can drastically raise cortisol over time. And packed schedules plus time on the road can crap out your diet like nothing else.

Exactly. And his fitness will be that much more important now that he's coming back from a serious injury.
