We got 2 back to back cake opponents, so we're supposed to win these games.

SEC play starts next week. And while Mississippi State is nothing special, it's at least big conference talent I'm eager to see how Texas looks that day.
Hopefully they will shit the bed in the most amazing way they can.

I know Iowa isn't very good. But man what Kaleb Johnson has been doing at RB has been special for us. If you're not watching what he is doing you should be. 3rd and 10 and Iowa is better off running the ball than passing it. He just scored a TD doing exactly that. Up over 100 yards yet again early in the third quarter.

UPDATE

164 Yards and 3 TDs. The guy was the leading rusher in college football coming into this game. Still in the third quarter and he has been every TD for Iowa.

Damnit.

I left the bar last night thinking Baylor had it in the bag only to wake up and find out Colorado tied the game on a Hail Mary then went on to win in OT.

What a shame.

Worse quarterback in a long time for the Sooners. Great defense but pathetic QB.
I've been saying for a couple weeks that he looks like Trevor Knight.

At this point I have to issue an apology to Mr. Knight because Jackson Arnold is by far the worst starting QB at OU since the John Blake era. He's Quincy Carter bad.

OU had a legit shot to win if not for Arnold's retarded ass.

Brent Venables has to make the move to the backup QB, Michael Hawkins. Everyone, including his teammates, see that Hawkins is the better option.

I keep seeing a lot of OU fans still trying to support him and making the argument that he just needs more time and a better OL. The days of being loyal, patient, and giving players a couple of seasons to work through growing pains are over. In this new era of the transfer portal and NIL you can't afford to do that. OU will probably lose a lot of top prospects and won't be in play for any of the elite transfer portal talent if they try to present them with Jackson Arnold as their QB.

On a positive note that OU defense looks legit. They gave up a few big plays, which is expected vs Tennessee's explosive offense, but overall I thought they played really well.

Considering the opponent and getting absolutely no help from the offense, that was one of the best performances I've seen from a Sooners defense in a very long time.

Mississippi State is terrible. Texas should handle them about as easily as they did UTSA.

I do feel bad for Arnold. He was a great prospect, very talented, and earned his five-star rating. I think his development was set way back by the terrible OL, no WRs due to injury, and a new OC that runs a system he hadn't played in before.

That said, if you fumble on simple runs straight up the middle and bounce routine balls, you have to be pulled like he was. And Hawkins does look good. I do think the game situation helped him some, but at least he wasn't making basic mistakes.

It is a shame for Arnold though that he couldn't ever settle in. He looks like he's about to jump out of his own skin, he's so nervous and jittery.

That's the funny thing about the NIL. If you have the money, you can still get the prospects. Used to be all a player cared about was the opportunity to succeed in college football. But that's changed so much.

I hate the NIL and the transfer portal. It very well could ruin college ball as we knew it.

It already has to a large degree. But I bet plenty of casual fans who turn on the TV on Saturdays don't even realize what's going on.
