Really, I would put it the opposite way. Howell might have more upside just because he's younger and maybe was in a bad situation with a dysfunctional team (or maybe he's just not that good), while Heinicke won't ever be great but he is a good plucky backup. It's take him as a backup QB on my team.

Well they were both in that bad situation. I always thought of Heinicke as more of a scrappy player than Howell. Howell too often looked like a deer in the headlights (except against Dallas last year)

I think you mean 2 years ago. He was awful against us last year.
Both guys looks to be at best NFL backups. Sort of similar in a lot of ways.

He skipped minicamp!
...Coming off of a major injury. I'd probably cut him a bit of slack. Admittedly I'm not completely up on the goings on with the Jets.
The most interesting thing is that he actually could have been RFK's VP and still made it back in time for the season.
