I don't think so. The guy MAY be a decent rotation guy. Not a starter on a championship caliber defense.
I think it's pretty safe to say that he is a decent rotational guy. Definitely agree that you don't want to be trotting him out there as a starter but as a 3rd DE/situational pass rusher he's at least adequate and he is on a cheap contract.

Can't have a stud at every position. That's why I think you could have a guy like Selvie at one end if you had a star at the other.

On what planet would you easily go OL in the 1st on this team?

The OL was the best unit on the team by the end of the year why would you invest a 1st when you have so many glaring needs on defense, I am all for trying to upgrade the guard spots and adding depth but there is no way in hell I am using a 1st or a 2nd.

But pleases explain to me why you would easily draft OL in the 1st.
Easy.

BPA. Either line. Turns out, oh lookiee here an upgrade to Bernadeau or Free.

You are totally correct but it doesn't fit the D-line or bust mentality of this board. You absolutely can win a superbowl with a DE of Selvie's caliber starting.

I can get behind Ravi's advocacy of trading down if the BPA is a WR or something, though.
I love BPA normally, but this situation has become retarded even by Jerry standards. My mind may change after free agency or if Dallas absolutely can't trade down.

We still need him and probably to start given Crawford's condition. But the combination of both he and Hayden starting is terrible. Add to it Ware and Hatchers age and the DL just can't be ignored any more.

Sure he is. He basically put up Greg Ellis like production at LE without the pussy attitude. The problem is he needs an elite pass rusher opposite him and Ware was not an elite pass rusher this year.
He put up a lot of numbers early and then disappeared.

No thanks. I don't think he was very good for long stretches of time. He'd have to earn a spot in the rotation next year and I wouldn't rule out Crawford being better. And I think neither of them are starting material of the caliber I look for along the DL.

That's why you should flush your overinvestment at corner since it's far more important to have the steaks along the DL.

Maybe you can if some other unit is carrying you. Don't bet on it being a LB core or DBs though. So it'll have to be something making a dominant offense.

Unless there is a stud sitting at our pick I think a trade down is an excellent idea. It worked well for us last year.

We only have 2 legit OL....Tyron and Frederick. I would easily draft an OT in the first to be a bookend with Tyron. Granted I'd love to get a DL in the first, but not at the expense of reaching. And you can't afford to always trade down a dozen or more spots bypassing better talent to chase need.

2 legit OL?

What the heck were you watching this year, I think most people are so jaded by past years that they don't realize this o-line was above average for most of the year.

Does anyone really think "hopefully" upgrading a spot on the o-line with are 1st makes this team substantially better?
