The Democrats are way better at controlling who their candidate is going to be. The Republicans don't have that ability. They are too divided as a party to essentially force a candidate into the race. Which I'm glad they don't do.

That's actually not how it works. The entire structure of the party is bottom up, while the the Dems are top down.

The Rs don't even have the capability of forcing someone out and another candidate in, unless they wanted to act like the mafia and do it by force totally outside their rules. (And the delegates wouldn't go for that anyway.)

It's really incredible what the Dems did. Republican have run sure losers before (Dole, McCain), but they never asked them to drop out in favor of someone more viable. You just taking your lickings at the ballot box and concede that it wasn't your year. If the Democrats were running against anyone other than Trump, who has unique flaws/shortcoming, I doubt they would've strong-armed Biden -- dementia or not.

Yeah, I don't believe what they're doing to Trump is unique. Any Republican candidate will be demonized, doesn't matter who tf it is. Vance is not running for president but look how quickly they fired up the propaganda machine on him. He is as beyond reproach as someone can be. Came from humble beginnings, doesn't have any real dirt on him, and has middle of the road conservative values. Now he's fucking "weird" and "fucks couches," whatever the hell that means.
