Neither here nor there (and might be surprising) but it annoys the fuck out of me that when I was coming out of high school we were in the Don't Ask Don't Tell days (a bit much but I always thought fair - your service shouldn't be about your sexuality/identity/whatever) - I specifically didn't pursue the air force or navy because of DADT. Felt like the right thing to do. (As much of a mess as I was, I knew I needed structure).

Life is a lot easier when you genuinely accept that other people might just believe different things than you do and it doesn't give you a permission slip to treat them like human garbage.
