I have no problem with the government taking care of the mentally ill. As long as it's mental health treatment and not plastic surgery.

Maybe if we actually treated the mentally ill we'd have a few less gun shootings every year.

How many people take advantage of welfare? You okay with paying for free shit for someone that has wanted to cut their dick off?

Peru is probably more sensible, but in this country "mental health help" would mean endless years of drugs, therapy, and everything else that cost a fortune, all at our expense.

I mean it's a little different then getting a free cell phone or a free place to live. That's why I said mental health treatment and not plastic surgery. If the cure is to lop someone's dick off and give them boob's I agree. If the treatment is to go sit down and talk to a a therapist who can help someone work through their shit, I'm ok with it.

I rarely want government spending money but this might actually be worthwhile. And I can't see it being abused the same way welfare programs are.

I agree that it is. Of course the problem is in countries like America they think it's a physical defect as opposed to e mental illness which is crazy.

Besides the fact that I think most of this is being pushed by society and parents and people who claim to have these issues don't really. They just want to please their parents or be unique or different.
