Random Thoughts:
-Hard to say Dak hasn't earned an extension, I just hope he shows us how important winning a Super Bowl is to him by making concessions on a team friendly deal (i.e. a 6-7 year deal where they can push money way out into the future, or taking a lower AAV around $45/year).
-I was shocked at how well we ran the ball in the first half but Steele still looks like a liability in pass protection, good thing is we can get out of his deal after 2024 without much of a hit.
-Martin has either lost a step or he's still not 100% healthy, he's still a good starting RG, just not the all-world guy we're used to. The Cox strip sack was mostly on him, and somewhat on Dak for not getting out of there quick enough.
-We don't have to worry about LB for as long as Quinn is here, Clark and Bell are exactly what he wants in those spots, and Overshown may end up being the best of them all once he's back.
-Does anybody really think Gilmore will leave if we want him back next year? As long as Quinn is back there's no chance this guy leaves a defense like this in what is likely the last year or two of his career just to chase a few more bucks.
-Mukuamu was playing the slot on the 3rd and 4th down stops late in the 3rd quarter, the back to back Gilmore tackles when it was 27-13 and the Eagles had it on about our 30-35 yard line. Having depth like that is why I find it laughable that anybody would think we need to force CB high in the draft next year.
-I'm a little worried at how often Quinn is bringing 6-man pressures on 3rd/4th down the last two games. He really leaned into it hard against Seattle in the 2nd half after we couldn't get off the field in the first half and did it a bunch last night in big spots. So far it's worked out, but I could easily see a few big plays hitting against it over the next few weeks, particularly against Miami where I think he'll have to dial it back a bit.
-That point leads into my next one, which is that Parsons is really the only guy who can consistently win off the edge on traditional type rushes. Lawrence, Armstrong and such are all nice complementary pieces, but most of their pressure is coming off movement, twists/stunts, getting left unblocked on a blitz and so forth. I love Lawrence and I'd like to re-sign Armstrong for the right price, but this is why I'd have no problem taking a guy like Latu or Verse if they somehow fell into the 20's.
-The stats don't show it but I think Osa is rounding into our best DT since probably Ratliff. He'll never be stout holding the POA vs. the run against doubles and such, but he makes plenty of plays shooting gaps with his quickness and is developing into a solid primary interior rusher.
-Thank the good Lord Hankins isn't out for year but it'll be interesting to see if Mazi can improve at all with presumably more snaps over the next few weeks against good opponents.
-Ferguson and Aubrey, both Gods.
