Outside of Kitna's mother, I don't think anyone is wondering that

If the Eagles can get donkey punched by Cassel and Asiata, why can they lose to Orton and Murray?

I agree thatplaying Orton is not a death sentence. the death sentence is our coaching staff that does not know how to win with a guy like Orton.

True but Minnesota defense is much better than ours.
You mean the team that is 31st in total defense this year?

Their defense even gives up more points per game and has given up more passing yards (Which might be hard to believe).

The Eagles offense is based on spreading the field using a variety of formations and either running or passing from those same formations. What makes it work is McCoy's ability to exploit the front 7, especially in space.

The gimmick formations combined with McCoy's success makes everything easier for Foles who is not a special passer.

So Dallas has to stop McCoy like they did earlier this year in Philadelphia and take their chances with Foles. The Cowboys defense has been bad, but the Bears are the worst run defense I've seen in a long time, so that game is no measure of how good Philadelphia is.

Jason Witten won't count out Tony Romo

December, 26, 2013

By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten has seen Tony Romo play through a broken rib and punctured lung, a bad knee and even a bruised back.

“I wouldn’t count him out until he’s out,” Witten said. “There’s no question. That wouldn’t surprise me, but I do think obviously this is different situation (it) seems like with the back and however that plays out. But you’ve got to prepare with Kyle (Orton) and go as if that’s the case and then see how it plays out.”

Witten said he was not aware how hurt Romo was until the plane ride home from the 24-23 win against the Washington Redskins.

“I think we’ve gotten used to him kind of limping around and finding a way and somehow, some way, Wednesday rolls around and he’s back out there,” Witten said. “I think we all believed that would be the case. Obviously that was tough not to have him out there on Wednesday, but you have hope in that and see the way it plays out. Obviously for him and I, everything you’ve worked for, you’ve done over the course of a decade is for moments like this. And if he’s not able to go, obviously that’s a blow. But you want to do it for guys like that.”

Romo has had treatment the last three days after having an epidural on Monday. Earlier Thursday coach Jason Garrett said the hope was Romo that might practice Friday, but he could still play without practicing. In a conference call with the Philadelphia media, Garrett said Romo has seen the game plan even though he has not been in meetings.

“I still organizationally think we’re still hoping that Tony can play, but Kyle’s getting the bulk of the reps this week,” quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson said. “If we get Tony, that’s a bonus. But if not, then we feel good about where Kyle is.”

oops did not know that.

I guess my response then would be that after watching this team for years I have only expectations of failure.

Philly can be beaten by a strong DL effort. If you can stop McCoy and put pressure on Foles, it is possible. The Vikings had a strong push up the middle.

Report: Romo’s back has only slightly improved

Posted by Mike Florio on December 26, 2013, 11:55 AM EST

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo finished the game after injuring his back on Sunday. It remains unlikely that he’ll finish the season.

According to Ed Werder of ESPN, Romo’s back has improved “only slightly” since receiving an epidural injection and other treatment.

Per Werder, Romo hasn’t attended practice, a team meeting, or a game-planning session this week. Which suggests that Romo has been spending a lot of time off his feet and in turn away from being actively involved in planning for the franchise’s latest playoff play-in game.

And so the signs continue to point strongly to Romo not playing and Kyle Orton getting the nod. Barring some sort of a miracle.

Which means the Cowboys are likely to lose the Third Annual NFC East Championship game. Barring some sort of a miracle.
------------------

I don't see Romo being out as the most important key. Orton can at least drive the bus with a decent run game and defense. The defense is what bothers me right now.

If they allow the Eagles to jump out on top early, yeah, it is going to be a loss. I don't think Orton is a guy who can lead a comeback.

Either way...Romo or Orton, I think we're in trouble...but I am holding out for Romo to be the wounded animal or for Orton to have that special game that back ups have from time to time. He might get all Bernie up in here.

Maybe it is just me, I am not too worried about Orton.

I don't think he has some stinker that makes it impossible to win. He might actually play pretty well...just a gut feeling though.

I still firmly believe that we will go as the D goes. If they can't stop them, it basically destroys the game plan which I believe we have in place.

Actually I think it would be a death sentence to try to play Romo even if he says he can play. Philly would come after him with reckless abandon and create all kinds of havoc just because they think he couldn't be fully responsive. With Orton they will l have o respect his ability to deliver a pass on time SorryToy but you will be a liability if you suit up this week.

They would also suffer because if Romo is playing, it is a Romo gameplan. I could not see Garrett ratcheting back if he was playing hurt.

Honestly, I'd rather he not play if he can't be close to normal efficiency.
