A year ago, I never would have guessed that I'd have watched so many North Dakota State highlights, but between Luepke and Lance ....

Lance was so raw, but the talent was obvious too. You can see the potential. Maybe he just needs some long talks with Brandin Cooks to get his mind right. :)

I guess I don't hate the front office making this decision independently in the moment, assuming the deal required fast action. It wasn't like Jerry & son were blindly betting on half-baked, overly optimistic, personal hunches when trading for Lance. The franchise had evaluated Lance ahead of the 2021 draft. I assume McCarthy had the chance to state his opinions on Lance as a prospect back then.

Exactly... in watching him, my biggest question was, how was he a #3 overall pick to start with? I don't see that at all. Jerry said we had him as a second rounder, which sounds a lot more like it.

its crazy enough to have taken him that high. But its altogether mind boggling what the 9ers paid to get to #3.
