Hendershot is primarily a pass catching tight end. Given McCarthy's preferences, it'd be difficult for two pass catching tight ends to make this roster.

If all he offers is pass catching ability, he'll never see the field. He won't play over the 2-3 guys over him because every time he's on the field, the defense will know it's a pass. Even guys like Kelce, Kittle, etc... can block enough to be serviceable. And keep the defense honest. This guy doesn't look like he can yet.

That's why he'll be redshirted on IR. Spend a year working in the weight room and with coaches. Come back next year and start his playing career if he learns to block.

"sheldrick redwine was in my Ecosystem Science and Policy class at UM. Your entire grade was how well you could have a conversation with the teacher about that week's reading. Loaded with student athletes because it was an easy A.

We had a reading about charismatic megafauna and the effect of pandas as umbrella species on conservation. The teacher specifically said "Sheldrick, I'm going to call on you next week, please be ready."

So the next week it's his turn to talk. He stands up, takes his headphones off for the first time all semester, and says "Yea. When they kill them baby elephants and shit? That shit makes me feel some type of way." Put his headphones on and sat back down.

I couldn't fucking breathe lol."
