As we are seeing with the trans issue, mental health is a big problem in this country.

So people who are trans are actually just mentally ill?

But I am going to be brutally honest with you.

All of this push about mental health this, mental health that, but that is about as sad of a take as can be made right now.

We are not equipped as a country to address mental health on a grand scale.

There are not enough qualified individuals to fill those roles, nor can I assume they will be attractive jobs that compensate at the level that it deserves.

I guess we could take the prisons that are no longer profitable and convert them to asylums if circumstances were just right.

Then put more effort into mental health instead of trying to take guns from people. But, that doesn't fit their agenda. We will never find a reasonable solution if the left puts their heads down and goes full-bore on taking guns.

That's a bullshit response. Just come out and say you don't like the trans community and what they're about. At least it would be an honest answer instead of making up some crap about mental illness. A percentage of trans people have mental illness just like a percentage of our general population does. But many of them have it because they aren't allowed to live their life without persecution from someone and living that way can cause depression. I'm sure there are things in your life that if I didn't allow you to have or be like, it would cause the same reaction in you.

Or worse, subject kids to it. Being whoever you think you are around them is fine. But when you put on "shows" and whatever else shit they're doing explicitly aimed at kids, trying to influence who and what they are, that's where they have crossed the line. Kids are confused enough. They don't need this shit.

We can have a discussion with how the DSM treats gender identity disorder but transgender advocates themselves would basically admit that their definition of "gender" is all based on brain chemistry, and then they try to shoehorn that into "what is a man" or "what is a woman." That's why they say it's a spectrum.

In that sense it's very similar to bipolarism, or mania and depression, which yes, is a spectrum as well, and when people fall outside the normal ranges we medicate them.

The problem is the normalization of these things for political reasons, I don't think any of us would disagree that there are more manly men and more feminine men, more manly women and more feminine women and obviously that has a lot to brain chemistry. But that doesn't make such a person the actual opposite sex, they shouldn't be competing in sports with members of the opposite sex, they shouldn't be told that they ARE that opposite sex, because the truth is the things that make them their "birth sex," vastly outweigh the the things that don't make them their birth sex, which is just their feelings.

I understand many people feel like they are suffering with this so the solution is treatment and not validation of falsehood. And certainly surgical or chemical intervention is way more harmful than most of it's advocates are letting on, or are even aware of.

Yeah, that’s where the “if they are an adult” thing comes in.

The manual said they were mentally ill not that many years ago.

But of course, these days "science" changes depending on politics. Like how you can suddenly be in the streets with thousands of people during a lockdown for a deadly virus if your politics are right. Or common paper masks don't work against viruses until one day they do. Etc.

I don't differentiate between gay and trans. It's what someone feels they are. Whether its biological or not, doesn't matter to me. And I don't claim they are mentally ill because they believe they were born with the wrong genitalia. If someone wants to have surgery to correct a mistake they think was made, more power to them.

As far as kids go, that's a decision for parents and the kids to make jointly. Not your decision or mine. If a kid is convinced they are the wrong gender and the parent is supportive, then do your thing. Don't agree with that part? Fine. Not everyone is willing to let kids have surgery or treatment. But to tell the kid they are basically delusional and it's all in their head is what's wrong. That's the type of treatment that leads to any mental illness, not the thought process itself.
