2022 Season | Week 17 | Gameday Chatter Thread | Cowboys @ Titans | 12/29/2022

the numbers are fairly close actually both running and receiving. Impact? thats kinda subjective.
Barber also had more carries than Pollard.
Pollard is getting 6.0 yards per touch compared to MBIII's 5.1 in 2007.
Pollard 5.3 yards per carry vs 2007 MBIII's 4.8 yards per carry. Plus the fact that Pollard is the bigger threat in the passing game probably benefits the running game.
I loved watching Barber even when he was stuck behind Julius Jones way back in 2005 (think Parcells was pretty much treating him as a third down/goal line back, IIRC).

Barber was the number one back, so yea, I expect the per carry average to reglect a heavier load.
The same way that Zeke is getting the bulk compared to TP.

20 first down carries for only 33 yards? Da fuk?

Random Thoughts:

-Sam Williams is really coming on, he's bending more consistently and really getting lots of pressure in only a small percentage of snaps. He was close a bunch against Jacksonville and then again in this game, and at this point I'd argue that he's our best pure speed rusher off the edge after Parsons although Lawrence and Armstrong are still better overall but most of their pass rush comes from the interior.
-I hate seeing so many of these guys wearing sleeves and face warmers in fucking 60 degree weather. Then you have guys like Hendershot and Diggs, both wearing sleeves, dropping easy balls that were game-changing plays. These guys need to toughen up significantly if they're going to win a game in Philadelphia in January, we haven't played a single real cold weather game all year and next week will be a glorified preseason game most likely.
-Hilton needs to take like all of Brown's snaps once we get to the playoffs. Brown has his role here and there, and he's useful blocking in the run game, but the guy is starting to drop easy balls on a weekly basis while Hilton is starting to flash. Yesterday Brown played 59% of the snaps while Hilton played 28%, that's going to have to flip.
-Wright isn't great as a starter by any means, and ultimately he's probably going to fuck us in the playoffs, but he's significantly better than chucklefuck Joseph who should probably be cut.
-If Elliott has a brain he's taking a significant paycut to stay here next year. Nobody is going to pay him more than like $5M/year if we cut him, so why not just take it here, let the timeshare with Pollard extend your career, play your role as a short yardage/goal-line back and continue being a crowd favorite even if you're only the 2nd best RB. He could easily stick around here for 2-3 more years with Pollard being the lead back, rack up the TD stats, get to 10,000 yards, move up the all-time Cowboys rushing leaders lists, or he could...go wither away in Atlanta or something as an afterthought for a year or two.

Looked to me like Quinn was rotating the LB's just to see what would stick given how shaky they've been. It's pretty astounding that we miss LVE this much and highlights the need to re-sign him.
To me, LB is pretty high on the draft list. IMO we basically have nothing there other than Clark right now (not counting Parsons of course). In fact, think how screwed we'd be right now if Clark hadn't recovered way earlier than anyone expected.

Yep it's up there for sure, and if we let LVE go it'd be one of my very top priorities in the 1st.

I still don't count LVE. I just think his neck won't ever let him be what he was, or even close.

I actually wish Devin Harper could get a look sometime. I know they love the long, tall guys, and he's not that. Not saying he'd be some star, either. But he can run, and IMO that's the problem with the guys we have other than Clark.

Drew Sanders will be right up our alley assuming he runs a 4.6 or so.

Yeah I wouldn't mind more Harper.
