I know he's probably just lying, but if he isn't, doesn't this mean there's a good chance Dak is gone?

If you're Dak and you don't have a new contact this year, why not just open bidding next year?

God damn, I fucking hate that man.
I was about to say, why is he even giving a PC today? Or maybe that's just a stupid stock photo.

Okay, now he is starting to annoy me. I have always been a big Dak supporter, but this is a dumb thing to say.
It sounds more like his agent shared an emotional conversation he had with Jones with him. It is getting a little dirtier.

Jerry actually gave a PC yesterday. I won't post it and piss people off.

But he was asked about the possibility of losing Dak if he didn't get something signed before the season, and Jerry didn't really answer directly, but basically gave his spiel about risk-taking ever since he joined the league.

That's the first time I ever seriously thought he might be semi-done with Dak. I'm still 90% sure he'll give Dak an extension, but it used to be 98%.

I will say this, at least Dak shows up regardless. He doesn't pull the Lamb, Zack Martin, Zeke Elliot and sit and pout until he gets the deal he wants. Dak is going to work his ass off with or without a contract. I do appreciate that about him.

But I also wish he would just refuse to talk contract with the media. When asked about it, just give some stock answer of not talking about the contract and move on. You're not obligated to answer these questions. You're not going to lose money if you say, I love my teammates and I love playing football, I'll let someone else worry about the money. But I guess when you get Jerry talking about fucking pie every day and Dak having to play with less guys around him, it's hard not to feed into it.

This is why a real GM is needed.

The ill will is unnecessary and could have easily been avoided.

The FO has seemingly made a number of emotional decisions the last few years after being disappointed in the playoffs, most notably the Amari trade.

It's hard to see them letting Dak go but I think they might actually be fed up enough to play out the string and then go from there.

I seriously doubt the Amari decision had anything to do with the playoffs.

I believe he had to go so that Lamb could become the player he is now. The team had to find out if (or confirm their belief) that Lamb was a legitimate #1 WR. Yeah, we could've kept him another year, but why? So defenses could roll coverage his way, thereby accelerating CeeDee's progress... and then you would've had an unhappy Amari (who was already grumbling about his reduced touches the previous session) sulking around the facility. It's not like he didn't already have a history of pouting his way off of one team.

There is a real advantage for ownership to be separated from the player contract side of things. Keeps it from getting so personal.

Appears the overall view by most now is that Prescott can’t produce when he gets in tough competition and that would be an easy case to prove. Is there any justification in keeping and paying a player the top of the league pay level when you know from their history they can’t or has not produced under fire?

There are mid level QBs who can get a team to the level making the playoffs but would you pay them top salary to compile a lot of stats but has proven they can’t deliver a championship performance? That is the basis by which you have to come to a conclusion that tells you I am being asked to shell out the salary for a championship performance while knowing his history shows he can’t or hasn’t deliver at that level.

That has been a known factor for quite a while with him and he is a good QB but what is the point of wrecking the franchise financially because someone else might take him off your hands? That was a known factor 3 or 4 seasons ago but a lot of folks said pay him because someone else will.. That is the history this circumstance and will only get you a larger demand to continue for more of the same.

I would not be surprised if Jones quite simply believes the regular season is already a 10-11 wins and he is not paying top dollar until he sees more than the divisional round. It is a very short sighted and idiotic strategy if so.
