Interesting.
I have to say though, given how badly the TV show got screwed up, the woke state of gaming, and the fact that this is centered on Ciri, I'm hopeful but skeptical for this one.
If the industry as a whole wasn’t force feeding us woke crap at every turn at the expense of good story, writing and gameplay, I’d be more open to it, but we’ve been burned too many times with games being hijacked and turned into vehicles for Social Justice at the expense of quality in any other aspect.
Plus… the best and canon ending of the Witcher 3 should have been the one where Ciri becomes empress and is permanently separated from Geralt. She lives, he lives, the world is saved from Armageddon and the wild hunt stopped, but she has to assume a new life and he can’t follow her, it’s one he can’t be a part of. It’s your classic save the world but the hero still loses it trope which makes Lord of the Rings so epic and sad.
The “Ciri becomes a Witcher and spends the rest of her days running around her with adoptive father figure,” ending is too happy for the dark world of the Witcher.
In the video game world of the Witcher, Geralt, after having essentially raised her, should have lost Ciri that way, it’s bittersweet, and therefore, she shouldn’t be available for further Witchering adventures. His ultimate victory is seeing her grow to womanhood and become something more, she’s a queen, he did his job to perfection, but he can’t reap the benefits of a relationship with his child as a result.
