We are taking our 18 year old dog to the vet tomorrow to have her put down. She has been a pain in my ass her whole life, but she is family and this one will sting.

Holy shit there was a damn hawk with at least 3-4 wingspan that took a dive after my dog.

Saw it happen and luckily my girl hates shit over her head, and she ducked appropriately.

By the time I got out to her, the bastard circled again, it finally just turned away after a not so strong dive.

And this is after one of the cats "escaped" on Friday night, my daughter loses her mind and he comes boogie-ing in the back screen door at 4 AM like he bagged some shit with his no balled self.

In the place we just moved to earlier this year, it cannot be expanded to the east any further (thank God) because it is adjacent to an eagle's nesting area. We had my son's cat, who loved to go outside, here for about a month before he disappeared. We checked every single road in a 1.5 mile radius and not a trace, although it was probably a waste of time anyway because it's not anywhere near a high-traffic area.

Not a big fan of cats at all, but I don't like thinking about the likelihood that he was snatched up by one of those eagles or even one of the owls that I hear at night.

I may have this posted before, but not a week after I moved into this house, I found a large, healthy looking adult hawk dead in my back yard next to a fence. I'm pretty sure my neighbor who has a small dog shot the hawk when he was sitting on the phone line, probably stalking the dog. What a horrible way to lose a pet that would be.

We have been in our new house for around a year and during that time, we have a stray Tuxedo that pretty much has hung out in a tunnel by a retention pond and has come out to our house. Over that year, I have come to respect that pimp.

At least once every couple of days during the week, he comes over and begs. But on the weekends for around the last month, he appears to round up his two side pieces that are clearly inside cats to hang out too.

Now while I respect his style as a pimp, I dunno how long I can handle the freeloading.
