The Miami Beach Police Dept. is investigating Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams over a hotel room altercation with a popular Instagram model ... TMZ Sports has learned.

According to the police report, cops were called to the Fontainebleau Hotel on Saturday morning about an incident involving Williams and Nicole Zavala, whose racy IG page has more than 200k followers.

Zavala told cops she met Williams -- who's currently out with a foot injury -- at a nightclub and went back to his room. But while there, Zavala claims a verbal altercation took place and she was asked to leave.

Zavala says she protested -- but Williams called a friend over to physically escort her out. The friend allegedly grabbed her by the arm and put her in the hallway. TMZ Sports obtained a photo of Zavala's alleged injuries.

Williams later told police he kicked her out because Zavala had a boyfriend and he didn't want the drama. He's adamant he never threw a punch or abused her in any way.

Cops say they have cell phone video showing Zavala pouting on the bed and refusing to leave the room when asked.

Zavala also acknowledges Williams never personally touched her.

Still, cops are investigating the incident as a "battery report." So far, no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed.

Several calls to Williams have not been returned.

Williams has made headlines for all the wrong reasons this year -- as we previously reported, he was arrested for misdemeanor public intoxication after his Lamborghini crashed into a light pole.

He later rode a bicycle back to the scene and fell on the way.

The case was later dismissed after Williams agreed to pay for the damaged light pole and complete an alcohol education course.

Yeah, I was being facetious.

Still, I don't see a way that this guy ever sees a meaningful snap for the Cowboys again.

You'd think that Cooper, Gallup, Beasley, and Tavon Austin (for his utility, special teams ability, and deep speed alone) are all ahead of him. He's right there in the group of veterans such as Hurns and Thompson, if there's space for any of them. Then you have young guys who will be back and in the mix next year too, in Noah Brown, Cedrick Wilson, and Lance Lenoir, all who may be able to contribute on special teams over Williams. And that's if you add no one else in free agency or the draft.

He can ride out his time on IR but I just can't see him back here. You know what he is. He's an average 2/3 type WR at his best. A guy who can give you 40-50 catches as your number two/three in a high volume pass offense, but not even really a clear cut #2 guy (the last few years Beasley was eating into his role as the second wideout, and he was always subordinate in attention paid by DBs to Witten as well). If he's clearly behind Gallup and Cooper and Beasley, why would you keep him as the 4th WR? Why wouldn't you go with a younger, higher upside player, or a guy who can do something else?

Yeah no reason to keep him past this year. You can even make him an example for his transgressions when in reality you just don't want him back.

It would be foolish to keep a veteran WR with no special ability as a fifth or sixth WR. Those are spots you should be using to develop young talent like you mentioned. Plus given Cooper and Gallups age Williams would never pass them on the depth chart.

Williams is a low rent turd.

An IG model is basically one step up from Cam Girl.

Yeah pretty much your classic IG model, big fake boobs and a skinny body with an average looking face. And lots of skin showing. Basically the how to get a professional athlete starter kit. I just wanted to make Booze post the pics.

I don't subscribe to the "we don't post big titties and lots of skin" that Booze does. Unless its Smitty in his see through mesh tank top. then we have a problem.
