I think it's a mistake to think this is about "getting Trump".

Once Trump retires to his farm, does anyone think everyone that hates him will suddenly be sane?

Why do they even hate Trump in the first place? It's not because he is braggadocios or because he's a misogynist or racist or whatever else they call him (in fact the evidence suggests he's none of those things).

They didn't hate him until he ran as a Republican. He's simply the most prominent Republican.

Now, his bluster doesn't help, but really all it does is give fuel to people who were going to hate him no matter what. Because he's a Republican (it's not even because he's conservative, since truthfully he's not a classic hard line far right conservative he's closer to moderate).

And it's not like those people have visceral hatred for Trump but are otherwise ok with Cruz, or Vance, or Ben Shapiro, or MTG, or Gaetz, or Rubio, or DeSantis, or Charlie Kirk, or Erica Kirk, or insert any Republican voice. Hell, even Elon, Gabbard and RFK get massive hate and vitriol.

They've been trained to hate Republicans and anyone who helps Republicans since the time of W. It's at a fever pitch now because Trump doesn't suffer their bullshit, but it's been going on for quite a while now (heck they even painted Romney and McCain as radical far right extremists and that couldn't be further from the truth, both are/were very moderate) and it's not going to stop when Trump's done.

So thinking they're out to get Trump specifically is short sighted. They hate anyone to the right of Stalin at this point.

The only thing I see that could reel them back in would be if a reasonable moderate leftist rose to prominence for the Democrats. Sadly there are few of them left, and they had a golden opportunity to elect one in 2024 (RFK) and rather than the party elites having to cede power to him they forced him out of the party entirely. I'm not sure there's any hope for that party anytime soon.

The Democrats are actually doing the opposite. They appear to be going further extreme closer to socialism. I guess the hope is that people will hate life enough that promising them a bunch of free shit will buy their vote.

Yeah, they aren't coming back. The one and only sensible Dem I can think of is Fetterman, and they've shunned him. Plus who knows when his health will force him out of politics anyway.

And to what Geng said, Trump won't get to retire to a farm. They're going to try to imprison him for life again as soon as they gain back power. Pretty decent chance they get away with it, too.

Agree on all points, especially that RFK Jr. would have been the best thing to happen to them in a long time. Coming back towards the middle is the only chance they have, but they continually double and triple down on views and policies that are only shared by the fringe left, who aren’t so fringe anymore. I have friends who are liberals who I can have political conversations with without it turning into a brawl. I mean, they still hate Trump, but they’re not up their own asses about it. Whoever we nominate in 2028 will be equally vilified. They can’t help themselves at this point. I see people leaving the left all the time, hopefully, it reaches a critical mass and they realize their survival depends on appealing to the more sane members of their party. Personally, I’m exhausted from all this.

They’ll still hate him but I think their vitriol will have shifted to Vance or whoever else takes the reins.

The playbook is obvious and the government shutdown plays right into it. Offer free everything, Healthcare, house, food etc. Then make people miserable by starving them out, not giving them paychecks and blaming the Republicans for all the miserable circumstances they create. People become desperate for the free shit and suddenly your stance gets heavily supported by a large percentage of the population.

This isn't rocket science. It's a thought out plan that's trying to push people towards socialism. The problem is once you get past a tipping point of government taking care of people, you can't really go back. Or at least go back easily.

Hell, the media and the left even hated JFK way back then. He was way too centric for where the party was headed.

That's the thing, once Trump's current term is over there isn't much point for them to "get him" anymore. The whole thing was trying to keep him from being president again.

He can't after this so unless he trolls them all and runs for Congress ( which would be insane and awesome by the way :lol ) there's no reason for them to risk beating their heads against the wall again. They'll likely set their main sites on whoever is next up.

Instapundit: Every Republican president or presidential candidate is Hitler, until he’s rehabilitated, given a new suit, allowed to leave the bunker, and treated as a wise elder statesman by the DNC-MSM to attack the latest Hitler.

That’s what they did with W. who I never liked anyway. He was not a good president and neither was his father for that matter.

Both might as well be Democrats. I couldn't stand either of them. They would be what we call a RINO today.

Little trivia that I'm sure all already know, but do you know what RINO stands for?
