Report: Von Miller tested positive for amphetamines, marijuana in 2011
Posted by Mike Florio on July 22, 2013, 1:27 PM EDT

The Von Miller situation is getting even more confusing.

Adam Schefter of ESPN has reported that Miller is facing a four-game suspension for violating a league policy. Schefter has yet to report whether Miller violated the substance-abuse policy or the PED policy.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that Miller has violated both policies. Per Klis, Miller tested positive for amphetamines and marijuana in 2011. The former, which is the active ingredient in Adderall and other related substances, would trigger an automatic four-game suspension under the PED policy. The latter would require at least three violations before a suspension arises.

It appears, then, that the suspension comes from the positive test for amphetamine. But it’s still unclear why it has taken so long to get the appeal resolved.

In late 2011, there was some suspicion that the league tapped the brakes on a couple of potential suspensions in order to avoid derailing Tebowmania. In 2012, the Broncos were among the league’s darlings, given the arrival of Peyton Manning. There’s no evidence that the process as to Miller has been delayed in any way to help the Broncos, however.

And there’s also no evidence that the process will be resolved any time soon. Until Miller’s appeal has been heard and decided, he’ll carry the stigma of being a cheater. Unfortunately for Miller, the fact that someone blabbed means that Miller will have that stigma in the eyes of some, even if he wins.

I read on rotoworld that he got busted for Molly, if so that's pretty ballsy.

Report: Von Miller suspension not for a positive drug test

Posted by Michael David Smith on July 26, 2013, 9:42 PM EDT

Broncos linebacker Von Miller is in the process of appealing a four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy, but according to a new report, Miller did not fail a drug test.

“He didn’t test positive for anything,” an unnamed person with knowledge of the situation told USA Today.

We’ll likely never know all the details of Miller’s case, just like we never know all the details of most NFL suspensions for violations of the substance-abuse policy, because the league’s confidentiality rules keep that information quiet. The very fact that we’re talking about this before Miller’s appeal has been heard shows that someone violated the confidentiality rules by leaking the news that he’s facing a suspension, but when these leaks come out, they usually don’t tell the full story.

But if it’s true that Miller didn’t fail a drug test, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll win his appeal. It’s possible to violate the policy without testing positive by, for instance, refusing to take a test or submitting a diluted urine sample.

So while the news that Miller did not test positive might seem to back up his claim that he did nothing wrong, it still remains to be seen whether Miller can win his appeal and be on the field in Week One.

So he'll get 4 sacks his first game back in Week 5 against Dallas.
