Bump.

3rd in pressures and QB hits amongst DT's for 20/year with the cap going up as much as it did is not bad at all.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Milton Williams got slightly more than this, and I think Odighizuwa is definitely a better player.

The deal was about as good as you could hope for at this point.

The only true steals are when you extend a guy early before they really break out, although at the time you wouldn't really consider that a steal until after they actually break out.

Like if we had extended Osa for 14-15/year last offseason, at which time people probably would've been lukewarm at best about it.

There aren't many guys out here taking X/year when it's obvious to everybody they can get 1.5-2X per year.

That’s a great deal. He’s averaging $20M a year, which is lower than many people thought he’d get. Plenty of savings for the Clampetts to not spend on other free agents.

He is going to count very little on the cap. It's a good deal and I'm glad we actually spent a little to keep a really good 26 year old starter.

Summary at end:

The Cowboys can exit the deal after two years.

So he’s getting $39 million for a two-year commitment in lieu of $25.12 million in 2025 and either $30.144 million next year or a shot at the open market next March.

It’s ultimately his right to take the deal. But even if the Cowboys wouldn’t have tagged him in 2026, he would have needed to make only $13.88 million in 2026 to break even.

To summarize, some players bet on themselves. Some take the bird in the hand. Odighizuwa took the bird in the hand.

This is a pretty smart deal. Gotta give them some credit on this one. Let's hope they continue.
