I made this exact point.

You trade one unreliable star for another unreliable star, who BTW is older and more injury-prone.

I wonder if the Mavs even bothered calling around to see if other teams had better offers.
Unless...

This trade seems bad and I don’t watch the sport.

How the hell do you think I feel? This could quite possibly be the worst trade in the history of sports.

It's definitely not, shockingly. I know this as a sixers fan.

The Sixers once traded Charles Barkley to the Suns for Tim Perry, Andrew Lang, and Jeff Hornacek. And that's it. No draft picks, no future considerations, no reach arounds, nothing. Two stiffs and a "solid" shooter.

Meanwhile Barkley went on to win league MVP and lead Phoenix to a finals appearance.

Well to be fair not every organization is run as well as Houston. They have it right. Just suck all the time and your fans don't get upset when you trade/release the players.

Mavs fans how are y'all feeling about this trade?

Personally I'd be pissed off. Luka is much younger and has proven he can carry a team on deep playoff runs. Neither Anthony Davis or Kyrie have shown they can lead a team to the playoffs without having their hands held be mega superstars (LeBron & Luka).

This is crazy.

I think Greg Anthony may have summed it up best as to why the Mavs made the trade. He believes the Mavs don't believe Luka will ever have the proper commitment to doing the right things to keep himself in shape and on the court.

I could see that, but I still wouldn't trade away a 25 year old with his resume. Luka hasn't even hit his prime years yet. Especially for an inferior player who is just as injury-prone and who is much flakier, in terms of performing at a high level consistently.

I don't like it but I think what they got in return is a light. It should've been a Herchel Walker-like return and it is definitely not..

I don't know why we involved Utah. I would've involved a lottery team and gotten a few more picks. Start stockpiling them like OKC did a few years back.

I was listening to one of the Lakers beat writers on Sirius XM, and he made it sound like the deal was done between two good buddies.

He mentioned the Lakers and Mavs GMs are really close friends who have known each other for a while and that it appears that the Mavs initiated the trade. According to him, the Mavs didn't even bother shopping Luka around for the highest offer.

But Barkley wanted out, and Philly was in the doldrums of mediocrity.

Mavs just made the Finals and had the potential for another deep run, and there are no signs Luka wanted to go anywhere.

This is some bullshit to slant the league in favor of Lebron. I still don’t think the Lakers make it out of the second round.
