Mavs fans how are y'all feeling about this trade?

Personally I'd be pissed off. Luka is much younger and has proven he can carry a team on deep playoff runs. Neither Anthony Davis or Kyrie have shown they can lead a team to the playoffs without having their hands held be mega superstars (LeBron & Luka).

This is crazy.

I think Greg Anthony may have summed it up best as to why the Mavs made the trade. He believes the Mavs don't believe Luka will ever have the proper commitment to doing the right things to keep himself in shape and on the court.

I could see that, but I still wouldn't trade away a 25 year old with his resume. Luka hasn't even hit his prime years yet. Especially for an inferior player who is just as injury-prone and who is much flakier, in terms of performing at a high level consistently.

How the hell do you think I feel? This could quite possibly be the worst trade in the history of sports.

I think this is the part that pisses me off the most about this trade. The fucking Lakers? Again?

All of this "good fortune" yet to this day, Lakers fans are still pissed about David Stern nixing the Chris Paul trade back in 2011.

:lol

@Texas Ace has already laid out Luka's notorious flippant attitude towards conditioning. Maybe the Mavs end up dodging a bullet in the long run. Luka strikes me as a guy who will be washed by age 33. Unless he gets his conditioning under control he's not going to be playing at an elite level in his mid to late 30s like a lot of the current stars.

I just saw Tim McMahon on Sports Center pretty much echo the Greg Anthony comment that I referenced. He said the Mavs don't trust Luka to stay in shape and don't want to put themselves in a position where they have to pay him a $300 million supermax contract.

Therefore it looks like the Lakers are on the hook to pay him and pray that he doesn't eat and drink himself out of LA similar to Zion in New Orleans.

On a positive note at least most of Dirk's Mavs scoring records are safe.

Luka is unlikable. That douche didn't deserve to supplant Dirk in the Mavs' record books.

I'm not happy about it but I kinda understand.

My gripe is that they sent him to the fucking Lakers of all teams and they got Mr. Fucking Glass Anthony Davis in return?!!!

If you're going to trade him because he's unreliable, then why the hell are you trading him for another unreliable player?!

And on the league rigging the Lakers bit... Never really thought about that before, but isn't the Mavs GM being a former Nike guy with relatively little experience in personnel when he got the job a little suspicious?

I made this exact point.

You trade one unreliable star for another unreliable star, who BTW is older and more injury-prone.

I wonder if the Mavs even bothered calling around to see if other teams had better offers.
