It's absurd to suggest that First Blood (GREAT movie, as an aside) is a Christmas movie based on it happens to be set during that time so you can see references to that effect.

This is the thing. It's similarly absurd to suggest that Die Hard is a Christmas movie, for the same logic.

There's a difference between a Christmas movie, which by definition should have a theme at least in part revolving around Christmas, and a movie that has a setting with a time frame around Christmas.
