Would we be farting around if we added Garret to the defense, though?

I wanted to add Carter so I'm definitely in on this even if it's this year's.

Then this is the braintrust that thought trading a 4th for Mingo was a good idea. We would probably throw in a first next year as well.
I mean Carter you have for 5 years. Garrett you have for 2. That's the biggest difference to me. And by then Parsons is nearing the end of his extension and suddenly paying a second DE makes more sense then paying two DE around the same time or maybe a year apart.

Garrett is a bad ass though so I get it. But without a RB, WR and some other stuff on defense it feels like a waste of a couple of first round picks potentially.

I wouldn't give up our first this year but you could easily give Garrett a 3-4 year extension that wouldn't really start to hit until 2027, so it's not just a two year rental.

We'd have plenty of resources left over to build a roster that could compete for everything.

He is 29 though. What's he going to be at 34-35 with an extension?

Yeah that's the best selling point. Get elite DE for 2 years at next to nothing. 35 mil player for peanuts basically.
And, like we did with Ware, Romo, and Dak, we are poised to not attend a single NFC Championship game except in the stands during those cheaper windows.

If they trade for him they'd have him under contract for two more years at a very reasonable price (relatively speaking). They could extend him with years left on the deal to spread out the impact on the cap.

Now, I wouldn't want to give up our 1st this year, but I'd be more than happy to send them our 1st next year plus maybe our 3rd this year.

I'd imagine he'd be willing to play ball on the contract too considering he has seemingly always wanted to play here.

If these idiots want to prove to fans that they're actually serious about winning something like this would be a slam dunk, so of course it'll never happen.
This is waaaaay too complex for the waiter to figure out.

If you give him a 3-year deal on top of what he already has he'd be 34 in the last year of the deal, which means you could probably get rid of him painlessly after the season where he'd be 33. He won't be the same exact player at 33 but I think you'd still be getting good to maybe even very good play out of him at 33, even if it's not elite.

You'd probably be looking at 2-3 years of elite play and 1-2 years of good to very good play, with the ability to get out of it after 4 years if you so desired.

All while Parsons is in his prime.

There would of course be other needs to fill but you could quite possibly be looking at having about 3-4 years of potentially the best edge rushing duo of all time. That's something worth taking a risk on.

Still not worth two ones.

Don't think there has been anything about what the Browns want for Garrett. That was just speculation.

Talk to Booze about that. He is the one suggesting what he would give for him.
