Lost both of my parents 20 years ago and my dad loved Thanksgiving while my mom loved Christmas. There for awhile it was a pretty bleak couple of months.

Now it's different. It's more like their own month each as I remember the great times.

I guess all of that to say Merry Christmas and enjoy the time with family. Jerry will still be here after.
I get it. Both of my parents always put on a show for Christmas Eve and Christmas every year. The house was full of food, laughter, watching movies, so many things. The first few years after they passed were a blur especially at Christmas and while things have gotten easier each holiday there’s an emptiness that is there every year after year.

For me, Christmas is simply not the same and I’ve never been able to recreate that magic of all those great times growing up even into adulthood.
I know so many people that are dealing with the same thing. Sometimes it’s nice just to check in on friends or whoever and ask how their day is going, send a text, send a small gift, whatever.
For many people, they dread this time of year because they lost so much more than a parent. Can’t imagine losing a partner or child and trying to get thru Christmas.
