Bernadeau says Cowboys have figured out zone-blocking scheme, which Packers DT called 'the best in the league'

The Cowboys have figured out the zone blocking scheme, and it is one reason the running game has gotten better over the past month, right guard Mackenzy Bernadeau said.

“Up front, we have a better understanding of the zone, how to approach the blocking and techniques,” Bernadeau said. “It’s just, as the season progresses, you’re supposed to get better. Obviously, that’s what we’ve done.”

The Cowboys have put together four consecutive 100-yard rushing games: 134 against Green Bay, 198 against Chicago, 144 against Oakland and 107 against the New York Giants. They had only one in the first 10 games of the season.

The Cowboys are being criticized for not continuing to run the ball in the second half of the Green Bay loss. They ran seven times after halftime, when they had a 26-3 lead and had averaged 8.5 yards a carry.

Packers defensive tackle Ryan Pickett told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel: “Oh, my God. It's the best zone scheme in the league. The last four weeks, nobody could stop it, their zone scheme, and they gave up on it. We're just happy they did. We were like, 'OK, we'll take it.’ ”

Bernadeau, asked if the Cowboys could have won Sunday’s game with the running attack, said, “There were a lot of things that we could have done differently that would have made us win the game. At the end of the day, you do the play that’s called and be ready to run out what’s called and execute it to the best of your ability.”

Bernadeau said the Cowboys ought to be able to go forward with the running game in the last two weeks.

“That’s the plan, you know?” he said. “Hopefully we just continue to get better. Our goal at the beginning of the season was to be able to move the ball on the ground and in the passing game. We feel like we’ve improved a lot. We just still have to get better. Hopefully we’ll go forward with that.”

Doesn't matter, you have to actually run the ball to take advantage of your mad skillz

While I was somewhat flattered to hear Green Bay's glowing commentary, to hear a guy like Bernadeau talk about "success" scares me a little bit.

So if Callahan is finally seeing the zone block work, why would he give up on the run? Especially with the lead in hand and averaging 7-8 yards a carry?

No coach is that frikkin stupid...someone is mandating more pass.

If Teh J's comments today don't prove that, I don't know what else short of him admitting it would.

It is basically a trickle down effect.

Jones wants the entertaining team. He's also got to justify his marriage to Tony Romo.

You can't rationalize spending that kind of money on someone who is just going to hand off the football.

Figure it out, Mac was giving your girlfriend the benefit of the doubt. Jones affirmed today several things...he only cares about the entertainment value and he still thinks Romo hung the moon.

Either A) Garrett is just some free thinker that just hates the run or B) he also has some "encouragement" from his employer to throw the ball every fricking down.
