At least it saved the taxpayers money having to house the little fucking coward. Now, kneejerks will happen and these gaming tournaments will be made gun-free zones, further endangering the attendees.
I'm sure the tournament was already a gun free zone.

Oh good lord.

Practically every large public venue, like this mall, is a "gun-free zone".

It does not mean it is enforced. Putting up a pictogram of a gun with a line through it is not going to stop anybody.
Kinda the point.

So your scenario suggests that the 21 and older gun carrying law-abiding citizens that would be somehow present in this venue would be deterrents to this twerp who fucking rage quit and shot up the joint?
Would it be a deterrent? Probably not.

But there is no surefire "solution" to this problem. It's a societal issue.

But handguns, as it appears was used here, are simply never, ever, EVER gonna be banned in this country.

Ever.

Not in anyone's wildest dreams. It's not happening, so move on.

And in the search for the next idea, you know, there are plenty of examples of armed victims turning on their attackers and preventing deaths.

This shit hits home.

From 97-2004, I was a competitive gamer on the Madden and Street Fighter scenes.

I have plenty of friends who are still competitive gamers and some are tournament organizers.

Just to see old friends or support the scene, I go to 2 or 3 gaming tournaments a year.

To see that now even this activity has become a target of gun violence just leaves me in shock.

I'm genuinely hurt by this.

WTF is happening to our country?
This is a societal problem. People are fucked up.

It's reflected in our awful treatment of each other politically, etc.

Yet another fail in the system in which the local law enforcement should have sent the info to the FBI for screening. We have got to get a system in place to stop this shit.
Yes....government employees need to do their fucking job, especially with them whining about not getting raises

Why would they? There is no competition.
This circumstance may bigger than just employees not doing their job. There is an invisible wall in the systems of law creation that seems to raise more problems than help. It a turf and privacy factions. Then it might be a logistics problem. Even if there are systems in place to activate a law (which there always isn’t) then the overseer of the system is reluctant to hand over to someone else their turf activities and systems. Conversely sometimes laws are enacted and there is no system in place to activate them. Lawmakers are quick to create laws without ever looking at the logistics to see if it can be effective.

In addition all systems and data are not compatible with each other.

Creating a law is easy. Making it work is another matter. Number one example is the reorganization structure of Homeland security. All the agencies under the umbrella are supposed to share their information but I can tell you that doesn’t happen. The Agency heads will even refuse to cooperate with congress. Government is deeply entrenched with Turf and control issues.

Has anyone ever spent much time around government utility workers? They generally move like snails and have zero efficiency.

On another note, I had a gas line installed at the house I built for my mom. 5 utility trucks and 7 guys showed up. It was literally 18 feet of 1” gas line. One guy ran the excavator, one guy pointed and told him where to go, the other 5 were huddled under the shade. They all left at 10:45 for lunch and came back at about 1. Took them a day and a half.

But millennials don’t trust capitalism and think socialism is better. The media has won.
