Yeah you are a heartless sonofabitch asshole.Am I an asshole?
I understand he was a good player. And his death was a tragedy.
But retire the number of a good player that played a total of 4 years without team success?
Maybe I'm an asshole but it seems over the top to me.
I completely agree. He was good, sure. Very good. But I wouldn't put him in the all timer conversation at the position. If he would have been able to continue his career to the end, he may have ended up as a HOFer, maybe not. It wasn't guaranteed.Am I an asshole?

We'd be the same way if something happened to Roy right before he started dating the Destiny's Child.I completely agree. He was good, sure. Very good. His being placed on a pedestal by their fans and the insane amount of worship heaped upon him is mainly because of the way he died. Unfortunate, but true.
You're 100% right, and the fact that his jersey is one of the most popular says a lot about the organization's lack of success over the last 20-30 years.Am I an asshole?

It's not that unusual. No one has worn Jose Fernandez's number since he died in that boating accident, and like Taylor, he was years away from the HOF. The Bears retired Brian Piccolo's # too.
Which is why people are so cynical about the timing. There are probably 10 or more retired Skins who had better careers than Taylor but whose numbers aren't retired.A guy who was maybe 4th or 5th best in the league at his position for a few years? And the team did nothing? Eh.
No, you're spot on.Am I an asshole?

but he destroyed that punter in the Pro Bowl :It wasn't until year 6 when things began to click for him but the way they view him now, you'd think he was the greatest safety that ever played.
