Tyrone Crawford on Tony Romo quieting the haters, playing with Rolando McClain
Cowboys defensive end Tyrone Crawford joined 105.3 The Fan Tuesday night. Here are some highlights from the interview.
On if he looks at potential playoff scenarios:
“Personally, I’d love to get to the playoffs, but I don’t know enough of how the situations work out to even look into it. So I’m just going to go out and hope for the best.”
On if he’s heard about Andrew Luck complimenting people who do well against him:
“I want to get that compliment if he does it on sacks and stuff. Maybe I can play around with his mind. I’ll say, ‘Thanks man. Maybe we can do it again sometime soon.’ I like being nice. I’m not a mean guy. We’re all trying to be polite.”
On how he feels DeMarco Murray will play Sunday:
“I definitely feel like he’s essential [to winning]. He’s a great back and he’s got a great front in front of him. They work together real well. I’m not sure of his situation right now. I am hoping for the best, we all are.”
On what the team’s confidence in Tony Romo is like:
“I’ve been a Romo fan since I’ve got here. I might be his biggest fan in this locker room. I believe in him. I know his confidence may seem like it’s higher this year, but he’s been a good quarterback for a long time. You’re just seeing in now because of the W’s.”
On if he likes seeing Romo shut down the haters:
“Oh I love it. It’s great to see in Dallas and social media when I get on there. I don’t see the Tony Romo haters as much. It’s good for him and it’s good for us.”
On moving around on the defensive line:
“Yeah. I knew coming in that I was going to be moved around and not have a set position. I kind of based my workouts on trying to stay as a tweener playing inside and outside. I did a lot of that this offseason and was excited to get the opportunity to be inside. I was definitely excited to be outside, but to get the opportunity to play on the inside was big.”
On if he could play running back if he had to, like he did in high school:
“As long as it’s a good situation for me. I feel like if we’re backed up and we need like 30 yards I feel like I could be put in there and get that 30 yards. Straight power.”
On any early preparations for Indianapolis:
“There’s not much right now, we just started installing the plan. We just let go of the Eagles game. We watched that film today. We’re definitely going to get going on it tomorrow, but we got little keys in today that are going to help.”
On Rolando McClain:
“To be honest, I knew that the linebackers that we did have would be able to step up and make plays [after Sean Lee got hurt]. I knew [Justin] Durant was a good guy for us, until he went down. McClain definitely came in and stepped up. He’s doing his thing. I love how he’s playing. It’s great for us. He’s a versatile athlete. He does things people don’t expect him to do. That’s what we need out of him.”
