Dallas Cowboys' offensive snaps
September, 29, 2014
By Jean-Jacques Taylor | ESPNDallas.com
For the third time in four weeks, tight end James Hanna played more than Gavin Escobar. As you would expect, it has more to do with his blocking ability than anything else.
The Cowboys have decided they want to run the ball and dominate the line of scrimmage, which fits Hanna’s skill set more than Escobar.
While Murray has 99 carries through four games, the Cowboys actually gave Joseph Randle a series late in the third quarter and he had runs of 4, 14 and 3 yards. He also had an apparent 18-yard run negated by a holding penalty.
The good news is play-caller Scott Linehan managed to get the ball to Lance Dunbar in space and he caught two passes for 36 yards. The bad news is he was only on the field for four plays.
Linehan rewarded special-teams ace Dwayne Harris with 11 plays on offense. He caught two passes for 18 yards and lost a yard on a reverse. A holding penalty negated an apparent 33-yard catch-and-run.
