Saw this video on Reddit. Still such a cool play to watch. I'm excited to see Dak with real coaching finally. Also, as a bonus check out that Lael Collins block.

Couldn't agree more, Chris.
Chris Simms has some points, but he's a limp-armed never was.

I think Dak's still growing, and while he might not be a top 5 QB as they are traditionally thought of, he's shown signs of being one at times.

Too early to say we've seen Dak's limits yet.

I mainly agree that, if he's in the 6-9 range, you don't make him the highest paid player in the history of the sport.

Hell, Dak and his agent probably knows this. But this is American spirit of free market. Get what you can. Supply & demand. Negotiations. Dak isn't losing training camp time.

What's the urgency for Dak to accept the 5-year deal? Jerruh's not gonna pull the existing deal off the table.

Go find another Rank 5-15 QB you can sign for Rank 5-15 money and Dak will lose leverage.

I think he's in the 11-15 range after these guys

Mahomes
Brady
Brees
Rodgers
Jackson
Wentz
Wilson
Watson
Ryan
Stafford

Since you included old-timers, for one season, I'd add Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan and Philip Rivers to the list. Kirk Cousins is same tier but I'd take him over Dak for the $32M/year for three years vs Dak's desired $35M/four years

Dak eventually surpassed Eli and I put Roeth in the same category due to age/injury. Still have him ahead of Cousins, though.

I do think it’s premature to put one-season wonder Lamar Jackson over Dak Prescott, especially since Lamar has come up short in two uninspiring playoff performances.
he's still raw, but Dak hasn't come close to winning an MVP

You apparently have bought into Lamar Jackson, which is fine. I haven't.

I'm rooting for Lamar Jackson, but, at this point, I couldn't sign him even for a Tier 2 multi-years/$33M extension.

Probably missed a few, but here's my list.

Dak is in the "pretty good" group. As in, could be awesome depending on the people around them.

The Elite and Sub-Elite categories are folks who have been consistently awesome regardless of who's around them. QBs trend up or down depending on age or supporting cast.

ELITE: Mahomes, Jackson, Wilson↓

SUB-ELITE : Watson, Rodgers↓, Brees↓, Brady↓

GOOD (unordered): Roethlisberger↓, Stafford↓, Cousins, Ryan↓, Wentz, Prescott↑, Tannehill↓, Goff , Newton↓

SOLID (unordered): Murray↑, Garoppolo, Carr, Bridgwater, Rivers↓

JAG (unordered): Josh Allen↑, Fitz↓, Winston, Mayfield, Jones↑, Minshew↑

BAD (unordered): Haskins, Lock, Dalton, Trubisky, Mariota

Dak's agents have a simple point.

They won't sign for anything less than what being franchise tagged three seasons in a row would pay.

It's hilarious, but Dallas should start talking with Newton if these guys continue with the bullshit.

I could give a fuck about god damned "Market Value". Market Value was coined in football terms by agents soon after FA started and the NFL foolishly capitulated to it, unwilling or too stupid to set true standards of performance.

No non-Elite QB is worth franchise money three seasons in a row as part of an extended deal like that. Sure the cap can be managed to swing it, but your team can't keep anyone worth a damn once it kicks in.

Once we sign a deal like that, it's usually the beginning of the end.

Lol what? Where did you get that idea from? The franchise tag 3 years in a row would cost way more than 35 mil per year.

big, strong kid who can make all the throws. if he can protect the ball better, he's gonna be trouble for years to come.

The exclusive tag, sure, but the non-exclusive tag is 28 mil. (28 + 33.6 + 48.3)/3 = 36.6. We also don't know how real the 35 number even is.

I'd bump Wentz up a tier - health depending - but otherwise this is probably somewhat how I'd tier them. Also need Jackson to reproduce or he falls.
