Stating the obvious, I know... but damn, Summerall's understated style is so refreshing in a day when it seems like everyone is trying to copy Gus Johnson.

Another example of how players don't know what's best for them.

So is it possible most of the players liked Owens? Sure.

But his behavior and antics absolutely were detrimental to the team. You can't cause disruption on the sidelines or say shit about your coaches or teammates in the media without those things having a negative effect on the team.

Just because they don't feel personally affected by it doesn't mean everything is ok. It clearly wasn't, and that's why we did better without him the next year than we did with him the previous season.

I think it matters that Jay was on defense, too. He wasn't in those meetings seeing the problems on the offense that happen when the star WR accuses his QB of drawing up plays in the dirt with his TE.
