Hopkins is the better player but Cooks is younger and the difference in talent isn't worth a 2nd vs. a 5/6. A 3rd vs. a 5/6?

Arguable, but definitely not a 2nd.

I've been thinking that the comp for Zay Flowers is Cooks, so we're basically getting something close to a finished product, ready to hit the ground running Zay Flowers.

He put up 90/1037/6 in 2021 with Davis Mills and Tyrod Taylor at QB, Nico Collins as the next best receiver on the roster, and Rex Burkhead as the team's leading rusher (averaging 3.5 YPC).

I think he's going to be just fine here.

Thank you, Mike McCarthy.

I'm not saying he's pulling the strings on everything, but he gave that family a taste of success that they hadn't had in a very long time.

I'm 100% convinced that the path he has this team on is what's led to them being more active this offseason in regards to player acquisition.

Like I said, I hope this is the start of a new way of doing things, but for now I'll just enjoy the fact that we're actually trying to capitalize on a good opportunity for once.

Getting rid of Kellen Moore. Making smart trades for good players at positions of need. Cutting a team favorite in another smart move…

Wtf is going on? I’m a little scared. Somebody hold me.
This is the best offseason we've had in years, probably going back to when we went on a spending spree and signed Leonard Davis and so forth.

Yeah, definitely the best offseason since 2007.

Cardinals played themselves. :lol
Yeah, I think the Cowboys were definitely interested but it was unrealistic for the Cardinals to think they could get a 2nd for Hopkins when that was what they gave up themselves for a younger version of him.

Had they asked for a 4th, maybe even a 3rd, I think the deal gets done.

I actually think he will thrive at getting to be a #2 WR. He has done well being the top WR in an offense but now he gets to be the WR the defense doesn't give all its attention to.

I like Hopkins better too but unless the Cards were trading him for a fifth it's not comparable. I'd still consider a WR in the draft in the first but it's no longer something we have to press. We went from Noah Brown to Brandin Cooks, not too shabby.

For me, I'm looking at NT, TE, and RB as our top 3 needs now.

A dynamic TE would make this offense crazy scary.

Amen.

I think he and Stephen really like each other (see the Stephen overlaughing at intro PC) and work well together. Probably helps both of them that they each have an ally vs Goof Dad.

The interesting thing here is that I think it tells you what the team thinks of this TE class. Barring them bringing back Schultz, which I think is very unlikely, I think you can more or less earmark our first rounder for either a TE, Bijan, or maybe an OL, but TE is definitely most likely.

If Mayer/Kincaid are gone it might start getting a little questionable but if either of them are there, and assuming Bijan is gone, you have to think they're the pick. Even if they're both gone I think it'd be a tossup between Washington and an OL.

Now, let's take this offense vertical.

Yes, but I still think a guard is a pretty big need. Might be able to get a serviceable cheap FA one in another week or two, though.

Yep. A fresh dynamic TE and a fresh dynamic RB would bring this offense right back to being top 2 or 3 in the league. I'm sure that's the route they go early in the draft.

This could wind up being the best team we've had in a long time.
