Cowboys sign kicker, snapper

OXNARD, Calif. -- As the Dallas Cowboys and Brian Waters continue to dance, the team made two special teams additions in signing kicker Brett Maher and long-snapper P.J. Mangieri, who were teammates at Nebraska.

Long-snapper Jackson Anderson, a Frisco native, was waived.

Maher was cut by the New York Jets last month after earning a contract after a rookie tryout.

The signing of Maher is not related to the hit Dan Bailey took after his blocked field goal attempt at Oakland on Friday. The Cowboys planned to sign both players once they returned from Oakland.

As for Waters, the holding pattern remains with both sides continuing to talk.

Looking more and more like he has a target date he will sign to miss the majority of TC. I guess we will have to wait and see.
