Do you really think those drives would have stalled if they needed another 20 yards?

Heck Detroit missed a FG or it would have been worse.

They didn't look close to stopping them most of the night.

The offense was not good enough but was ok. The special teams was a joke. The defense was terrible.

Keep in mind I'm responding to you questioning our criticism of the defense.

Yes all units had problems and didn't do the defense any favors. But that was bad defense. As usual.

Yes I'm really mad at the defense.
Agree that the defense was put behind the 8 ball more than th should have been but 9 times out of 10, 30 points should be enough to win. Goff got no pressure and pretty much did what he wanted while the dbs made a crippled WR look great. Bland just looked foolish falling out of bounds while the RB picked up the first down.

Bad performances across the board with the exception of Dak, Cee Dee, and Flournoy (thanks for reminding me, @Simpleton)

I agree but Im not counting on Guyton. They say the best ability of a football player is availability and he misses games. Top that off with dumb play and Im not sure we shouldn't be looking at OT (again) high in the draft.

Yeah, the injuries might be a big problem.

Imagine if we'd hired Vrabel.

But of course Jerry wasn't even interested.
I gotta say it’s really sad to see teams build a dynasty.. tear it down …and rebuild / rebound so quickly with forming great coaching staffs .. and yet here we are 30 years later … looking in the same mirror because of an incompetent owner ..the future is not bright and I feel bad for some of the great talent we have that will be wasted … we did Parsons a favor

What was even scarier last night was to watch our two stud defensive tackles get completely blown off the ball when we needed to make a play in the run game. That plus Mongoloid Goff never got pressured after about the first 10 plays of the game.

You guys are really mad at the defense?

We know what they are, an average at absolute best unit, it's a minor miracle they've played well three games in a row and this was a road game against one of the better offenses in the league (and who are mostly healthy at that).

The real problem here is that the offense and ST's shit the bed at different times.

The offense was always going to have to carry the load and they put up 9 points in the first half, had an avalanche of penalties and had two extremely sloppy turnovers that are repeats of what we've been seeing for weeks.

The ST's has been shit all year for the most part and this might've been their worst game.

Here's Detroit's starting field position by drive:

own 36
own 47 (kickoff return)
Dallas 42 (offense nearly gave up a safety and then punted)
own 37
own 47 (Ferguson fumble)
own 26
Dallas 14 (INT off Pickens drop)
own 32
own 32
own 41 (kickoff return)
own 49 (kickoff return)

That's half their drives basically starting at midfield or better due to TO's and the weekly terrible ST play. Their average starting field position was pretty much midfield.

Sure, blame the defense for not getting a stop when it was 30-27 or not forcing more FG's but no team built this way (i.e. top tier offense, middling defense) is winning a game on the road when the offense plays like that to start the game, combined with the kickoff unit allowing 3 returns past the 40.
Think it's fair to be mad at the defense because it sucks and the only reasonable expectation out of the defense on any given week is holding the opponent to 30.

It's also fair to be mad at the offense because you expect them to put up more than 9 points in a half and they failed to do it as they too often do (See: Arizona game).

And on the flip side the lions had 5 sacks last night after only having 4 total combined in their previous 4 games. Just a shitshow all around.

One thing Stephen said this week that I'm not sure we knew is that they'd already decided to hire Schotty for OC before HC, too. It was only after they liked him enough interviewing for OC that they considered him for HC.

So they fully intended to hire both coordinators before the HC. Mind-numbing arrogance on display again.
But Schotty was already the OC?

Safe to say the OL was garbage last night.

There's been a concerning downward trend with the OL.

Something that shouldn't be happening when you have three firsts and a highly regarded third round pick starting in the unit.

Let's pick it up, Adams.

1. I hope we can stop with the Nate Thomas is better than Guyton at LT. That was horrific.

2. What was Pickens doing last night? No energy, not into the game and taking himself off the field after every other play. Stay on the field bro. We're trying to come back, big 3rd and even 4th down and he's walking to the sideline because he's too lazy to run back into the huddle. You trust giving this guy $25million plus per. Can't have nights like that then. That was Pittsburgh Pickens.

3. Need a stud DE bad

4. Our LB's are awful in space.

5. Our starting safeties know where to be, but just too slow to get there.
