it's just not as noticeable because ST's aren't as big a part of the game.
Here is where I disagree… ST’s play is a huge part of this game and it showed in that disgusting loss in Detroit. ST play sets the tone for your offense and defense to start off in a spot where they can win. It’s a huge problem for us because our defense is so horrendous we cannot afford to have opposing teams to work with a half of a field . In that game Thursday night …Detroit’s average field position start was there own 42 yd line ..where we sat at our own 28 yd line for our average start . It cost us the game ..

If we started on our own 42 we would only have to go 20 yards for reasonable scoring position for Aubry. 10 If you think he can consistently hit from 60+.

I'm saying the poor play isn't as noticeable to the average fan because it's not as large a part of the game (i.e. maybe 10-15 ST plays per game vs. 60 defensive).

The terrible ST play was definitely a huge reason for the loss, coupled with the offense bumbling around in the first half. The defense was bad of course too but that's why I wasn't overly vicious towards them or even Eberflus for this particular game.

I think you're both right honestly.

Special teams can play a huge part in a game, but most of the time teams are roughly even in special teams performance so it doesn't actually make a big impact.

But it can definitely fuck you like it did the other night.

Simp just meant that the average Joe Fan doesn't notice ST field position as much as the big plays on offense and defense. I thought it was pretty obvious what he meant.

I don’t see how any fan missed the fact Detroit returned 2 or 3 kicks to midfield, the worst being when we cut the lead to 7 (I believe).
I just can’t fathom how that happens.
