I think it’s not about being happy, but truly winning.

It’s good insight into how he thinks, like he’s’ convinced himself there truly is no winning methodology but rather you have to strike it rich.
I think they've convinced themselves there's only so much they can do and that there's an element of luck outside of their control.

That's largely true but what they're missing is that there is more that they can do to improve their odds.

Ochoa doesn’t apparently understand English.

Stephen is describing the narrative of the team, which begins with “we haven’t been to a Super Bowl in 30 years”— he’s literally stating it as fact.

He’s saying it doesn’t sit well with them, which I think is a very sane outlook.

He’s NOT saying “Some people are saying there’s a narrative that we haven’t been to a Super Bowl in 30 years”—

Hate Stephen all you want, but let’s at least agree to speak the same fucking language, mediot.

True. A lot of the problem is the original statement from Stephen which was very tone deaf and rubbed a lot of people the wrong way because it implied that people make too much out of it and it's not really a big deal because we've had some playoff years mixed in.

Here, Stephen isn't doubling down on that he's trying to make amends and acknowledge that the organization is not satisfied with things and are trying to break through to the championship.

Except the problem here is instead of just coming out and saying that, he's using the typical Jones beat around the bush doublespeak and it's easily misinterpreted.

Which makes me wonder if this was what he was trying to say the first time, air quotes and all, but he just "talks" "like" "a" "retard".

Right, I think he was trying to appease the fans a bit, but the problem is he doesn't actually agree with the fans. He actually thinks he and Jerry have been doing a good job because they won 12 games, drafted Dak and CeeDee and Micah, etc.

So he did a terrible job of expressing his sympathy with the fans because in his heart he doesn't actually agree with them.

I do think that's true yes, he thinks they've been "successful" in this period and doesn't measure "success" by championship game appearances or Superbowl appearances because it's really "hard" to "win" in this league. I think that's what he "actually" believes.

And so does "Jerry".

Your task and purpose as a Cowboys Analytics Team Member is to:

1. Spend the least amount possible to maintain a relevant team

2. Maximize Stephen's inheritance

Yeah doesn't really sound like Martin is considering moving to a new team in free agency. Which probably means either retirement or staying in Dallas. I'm ok with him coming back if he is healthy and motivated. But I'm not interested in paying him more than probably league average starting guard kind of money though.

Well at least he cant hold out on us.

I hope he comes back strong for one more year. Hate that this kind of year could have been it for him.

Yeah, because that's what was wrong in 2024.

Camaraderie.

Dipshit didn't seem to care about his brotherhood when he held out.

No shit. I don't want him back unless it's cheap. He's not even close to elite anymore.
