Trey Smith got an extension averaging 23.5, Tyler's extension will presumably be 24-25/year.

Between that and Bland's deal that's almost the exact same AAV as the Parsons deal, probably a coincidence although knowing this FO you never know.

That's a stupid comparison. If that's why they did it with Smith, they did it when Zeke was holding out. Not after he was gone.

Plus, Swiper was always a Jerry pet project, being a big name injured guy like he loves. Bland was a nobody from nowhere who earned it with his play.

We'd all talked about getting Bland and Smith signed all offseason. This wasn't some snap decision.

Bob says some dumb shit sometimes.
Yea Jaylon had a catastrophic injury that he never fully recovered from, which is hugely different from Bland having some run of the mill injury that keeps him out for two months.

Wasnt that the point, though. Smith was in camp and Zeke should have been as well since he was on a contract. Reward the one and send the message to the guy thats under contract but holding out. I dont know if I agree with that but I believe thats how Jerry looks at it. I saw another tweet where the Bland extension was being worked on before the trade so there is some similarities with Micah there if true.

The supposed point of that -- if it even was a point, because Swiper was always a Jerry pet and I bet he'd have gotten paid regardless -- was to send a message to Zeke to end the Cabo nonsense get this done. How is that relevant to Micah? He's already traded and gone.

And of course the Bland deal was being worked on. He's a good player whose deal is ending. Bland mentioned they were getting close weeks ago, before this Micah trade was even considered. I thought we wanted guys signed earlier instead of waiting to the end when they cost more?

No, fortunately Eberflus' defenses are known for turnovers.
Weird how Eberflus best defenses had a play making DT, yet our brain trust didn’t even sniff a DT in the draft or FA. But, lookit we traded Micah because dammit we’ve realized we’ve sucked donkey dick against the run the last 5 years. ~lipsmack~.

They're idiots for ignoring it until now for sure, although I think Osa/Clark are probably a top 10ish duo, so that's something.

Yeah, can you imagine having a guy like Clark 2-3 years ago with Parsons? It could have happened with a little football sense from our “GM”.

Hopefully Bland can keep getting INTs. Not sure he's good enough in coverage to warrant the new contract if not.

He is a badass tackler too to be honest. He is probably playing the slot this year though and then he will move back to the outside next year. I honestly think he is most effective in the slot. Better than Jordan Lewis last year.

I think he's staying slot long term, at least when we have 3 CBs on the field. This year I think it'll be him, Diggs and Elam, and next year it'll be either Diggs or Elam, Bland and Revel.
