These rules are stupid as hell. So you get picks when you actually LOSE a minority?
But they granted the opportunity to begin with. Like a reward for being good or something.

Do you not understand the optics involved here?

No, but it is looked at as compensation for a team losing an asset.
But it only pertains to minorities, which was my original point.

The idea is to reward teams for developing minority coaches.

The reality is, why would you go out of your way to give compensation to a competitor? You wouldn't.
I could be wrong, but the team signing them doesn't give the draft pick compensation, right? The league just gifts the team losing the coach with a compensatory pick.

But it's stupid. Sounds to me that teams would be less willing to promote a minority coach within, in hopes that another team hires them away for a promotion so they could receive the picks.
